    2016 Ford explorer 4 wheel drive ?

    Anyone towing a 2016 Ford Explorer 4 wheel drive? Owners manual says to put transmission in neutral then disconnect negative battery terminal.

    But it also says to start the engine every 6 hours of towing. So seems like a lot of work on a long trip, reconnect battery, start engine, stop engine, disconnect battery.

    Just wondering if anyone has better information or experience actually towing one of these.

    It was because of all the extra things to do to flat tow other brands that we chose Dodge/Jeep. Put vehicle in neutral, apply brake pedal, push neutral button and voila the vehicle is in neutral.

    If you put an aftermarket knife switch on the battery it would help, but to your point, still seems like a hassle.
