2010 H3 Fuel Tank Replacment
I was at Prevost TN this week getting the fuel tank replaced due to leakage. Here are some pictures of the new tank, old tank and the mounting plate it sits on. The plate that bolts to the top of the tank along with all the hoses is also shown. There are also a couple of the fuel fill shut off devices. The balls float up and shut down the fuel flow.
They were not sure exactly where it was leaking. It was wet on both sides and across the top behind the raised filler neck area. The fill tube flanges are bolted through with a gasked on the inside. Both gaskets looked good and the bolts were all tight. None of the hoses on the top plate were leaking, nor was the plate itself. It was all completed in one day, as the second shift finished it up at about midnight.

Holy crap what a big job… Could you tell which pickup tube was the generator and does the 1/4 tank story add up to the gen running out of fuel? Sorry you had the problem Mark, but the pictures are priceless.

Yes, the generator pick up tubes are shorter, and would likely run out first. I did not measure them, but the 1/4 tank seems about right.
It was a big job, and the old tank was really warped out of shape. There had been fuel leaking for quite some time from the looks of it. It was evident on both sides and the rear. There was also fuel sitting on the top of the tank forward of the bulge where the fillers connect. From there it could run off either side when you turn.
I am not sure where the leak was, but there was no doubt it was leaking. The crew at Prevost TN did an outstanding job on the replacement. All of the old cushion material under the tank and the stuff fore and aft on support beams had to be replaced. Same with the brackets that go over the top of the tank…they get cushioned too. First they pressure washed everything down and then had to clean the old adhesive off and then put the new material on. Lots of labor besides the actual tank installation.
Glad it is done. They also hit everything else on my list of Prevost stuff to be done from before. Liberty took care of just about all of it, so it was a rather painless on the checkbook trip…
