  • 2000 XL Pneumatics

Just learning the ropes, so bear with me. As with past coaches I enjoy learning the systems and this bus is no different. Trying to get comfortable with the pneumatics, have experience with electro-pneumatic solenoids, height control valves, dump/pilot valves from past Wanderlodges.

Have read through the excellent pneumatics article written by Jon and have watched a couple of YT videos. Both really helpful but both seem to reference a configuration that is different from my bus. Did Prevost modify the design at some point and remove the front 5-way norgren and replace with two 3-way norgrens?

On this diagram for my bus (X6897) the highlighted in yellow are 3-way norgrens.

A number of converters modified the Prevost suspension control system by either using a commercially available leveling system or a proprietary one. Also Prevost offered an optional “level low” system for motor home chassis, and the motor home system varied a little from what was provided on seated buses, such as the front end kneeling feature.

diving in a little deeper, referencing the Prevost diagram for my bus, what’s the purpose of the bypass path around both of the 3-way Norgrens on the steer (orange arrows)?

My understanding that if the suspension is dumped (HCV are open), on start-up with the LL selector in drive, the actuators on both the 3-ways are going to complete a path through the Norgrens allowing air to the bags. However, the diagram seems to show a bypass around the Norgrens?

I’m sure I’m reading it wrong, but that’s what it looks like to me.

chassi was built in 1999. My 98 is W-6553..X is next year. If you look up build record for your chassi use the X and last 4 digits of your serial number. My 98 came with 2ea 5 port norgren in steering compartment. the feed to bottom on selnoid stack in blue is for level system the tee is for supply for normal road operation. I’ll at your set up and see what is differant. What most converters did is modify the system source of signal to selonoid stack. basic is still the same. sorry did not see you already knew it was built in 99. Should be same as mine. Bob

the broken lines are the functions of selonoid stack when in your parked indivual air bag adjustment. the solid lines are when you are in driving mode..I took the diagram you have to office depot and had it blown up (about 20 by 30 inches and lamaniated less than 15$..you can use erase markers on it when tracing system..Use colored ones..Bob
