  • 2000 H3 Speedo Not working

Posted by atanas on January 10, 2019 at 9:26 am

Good Morning and happy New Year

I am working on a 00 H3, the Speedometer will not work. I have done the Gauge cluster needle Test, and all needles Sweep as they should. The Odometers works as well. I have Checked all 3 Speed sensors on The Allison B500R transmission and all pass the 300 +/-Ohm test. all 3 are around the 325 Ohm range.

I have done a Continuity Test from each sensor to the Blue Connector on the TCU and I have good Continuity on all wires.

Only thing I have not checked and cannot figure out is the connection to the instrument cluster, how the speed reading reaches the cluster from the TCU. I see the wiring diagram, and how each speed sensor goes to Blue Connector on TCU but from there how does it reach Cluster?

Does the diagram reference another page where the wire picks up? When I was looking into this, there was a different page for the two ends of the signal wire. The signal goes through a module in the steer bay. The module drops the tag above 15 mph for us, so there’s another point to check. Our module was bad.

Allison trans sensors passed working test, as you say.

From my experience test the wires which pickup the speedometer signal.

Test each wire out of plug-in appox 1 foot back. Any Allison trans dealer or repair shop should be able to tell you which sensor of the three to check.

The connection and loop of the wires has a history problem you describe.

    thank you for replys

so on my wiring diagrams. there is 2 wires. 900 and wire # 901 which go from Engine speed sensor, to TCU blue plug. from there they go to C12 and C15. from there its supposed to go to ECU, and something called DDR module which i cannot locate. then to cluster left side, then loop to center cluster
