  • 1996 XL Entry Door Window Replacement

Posted by Clay on June 24, 2024 at 4:41 pm

I replaced the entry door window in our ’96 Liberty XL40 this morning. Prevost part number 790434 for the window $295.95, part number 681092 for the Sikaflex 255FC $12.15. Total time start to finish including prep, clean up, and putting away tools etc was less than 3 hours. I used an oscillating tool to remove the old adhesive, it would have taken a lot longer using a utility knife. The most difficult part of the job was applying the Sikaflex with a standard caulking gun. Sikaflex 255FC is thick and sticky, squeezing the caulking gun is hard and tiring. I ended up employing some standard redneck engineering to the problem, pvc and masking tape made it much easier…

It was an easy job. The best part is is my wife is very happy that she can now see out the window.

i know this is an old thread, but i wanted to add this for future readers. i have used sikaflex on numerous occasions and have a battery powered ryobe caulking gun from home depot that makes dispensing not only easier, but gives the user precision application with the adjustable speed of the plunger.
