  • 1991 XL40 Norgren valves

    I know this has been talked to death but rather than search the forum can anyone tell me from their experience how many norgren valves are on a 1991 XL40? Best I can tell from the pneumatic diagram there are 3. How many are 2 port or 3 port? Getting ready to order online from norgren. I did find the norgren numbers on a old post in a PC forum. Next air bags are on the maintenance list. Thanks!

    You don’t reveal the converter, but assuming it is stock Prevost here is what I remember. If it is wrong I am claiming Tom told me this.

    In the rear you should have 2 five port Norgrens in front of the drive axle fender liners. On the frame between the drive and tag axles you should have a three port on each side and on the passenger side on the frame over or behind the tag should be a third three port Norgren.

    In the front steer compartment there should be a five port and a three port mounted on the rear bulkhead, and up over the steer axle should be another three port.

    So there should be a total of 3 five port Norgrens and 5 three port.

    Thanks Jon! No converter, I am a home builder. Coach is original from Prevost, it was a charter bus for Knoxville tours.

    Then I have no clue because the bus likely never had the Level Low system.

    Jon , this level low system , is it the system for leveling coach after you stop. Front and side to side?

    The level low system is used to level the coach, such as at a campground when the ground slopes or is uneven.

    The system can allow the coach to drop about 4″ lower than ride height, or about 4″ above ride height at any corner to compensate for an out of level parking spot. The level low can be set to a driving position which then brings the ride height valves into play, and will maintain about 11″ above the road surface for driving.

    The level low system allows the driver to control the height manually of the left rear, right rear and front.
