Hey Rick, that series 60 will run just fine with the red stuff!:)

How is the auto clutch working out for you? Have you had any issues in reverse? Inquiring minds want to know

Most
everyone that operates a diesel powered vehicle claim they notice an
improvement in fuel mileage with summer blend fuel. I never really was able to
notice much difference. It’s probably because I don’t put enough miles on
during the winter.What RPM’s
are most of you turning at 70 MPH? I’m at 1400 RPM.Reverse
hasn’t given me any trouble, but it’s different from a conventional
automatic. Reverse in this transmission has 2 speeds. When you select reverse
it automatically selects 1 or the lowest ratio. In R1 you really have to
feather the throttle, if not reverse movement happens rather abruptly. If you manually
select R2 it behaves more like a conventional automatic when backing. I don’t
think it’s going be as easy to back up to a trailer as a conventional automatic,
but I don’t do that very often. In forward the default start gear is 2nd, it
almost has too many gears for the weight it’s pulling, It seems that it doesn’t
go 2000 feet and it already in 5th or 6th gear. I’m going to see if the default
start gear can be set to 3rd. I don’t think it would hurt anything
since I’m pulling half the weight it was designed for. Overall I’m very
satisfied the transmission operation and engine performance. There is a little
more vibration input into the chassis with the series 60 than I would like.
That’s probably because I used the mounts from the 92 series. I’ll change them
to the series 60 style later, maybe this winter.Ken

Just wanted to bump this up due to recent milage post. I’m doing a simular install and Ken helped with final gear selection. Fuel consumption in my case will make me feel better about using coach more$$$$. It was a complete new install for me so selection was do it rite first time question in first place. At end of Ken’s post he is getting 8.64 with a 14L 60 series. A intresting read. Bob
