12v or 24 v starter
I have a 60 series out of 2000 freightlinner going into the 98. It now has a 12 volt starter. Dick who I got the engine from also gave me a 24 volt starter. The starter is less than 18 inches from the batteries. I have removed bus air so there is little need for 24 volt elsewhere in the bus.. I don’t plan on starting engine below 32F. Your opinions?? Bob

To me this is not something that should even be considered. I say this in view of the fact you have a 24 volt starter available.
While you may have pulled what you consider the big electrical loads out of the coach, you still have a 24 volt coach. You would have to make monumental changes to the coach to make it 12 volts, including most relays, changing CB amperages and maybe even wire sizes. Yes the chassis has 12 volt wiring for some devices (all the yellow wires are 12 volt) but you have a 24 volt alternator (or should have) plus 24 volt coils on various solenoid valves etc.
There is a reason why Prevost engineers long ago decided to go to 24 volt coaches.
