120VAC toe kick heaters
This is a Marathon issue.
I can’t seem to get my electric heaters to operate properly. I’m on 50A shore power at Orangeland RV Resort in Anaheim, CA. The 3 CBs in the 120VAC breaker panel for each of the 3 heaters (bedroom, bath & galley) are switched on. The 4 master switches/buttons for the A/Cs located on the dash are switched on for the SMX panels to work.
The manual describes the procedure as follows; To operate the 120-volt heaters, turn on the switch (push button) labeled 12-VOLT HEAT on the DC breaker panel. Set the SMX control pads to the desired temperature and press the heat button twice. What happens is when I push the 120VAC HEAT button it turns on (orange) and the SMX panel shows the heat is on and the “heating” led is flashing showing that the heaters are heating. However, the toe kick heaters never come on. After a few minutes the 12VAC button on the DC breaker panel turns itself off (green).
The same procedure above applies for the 12VDC Heat (Wabasto) which works as it should when choosing 12VDC HEAT instead of 120VAC HEAT on the DC breaker panel.
So, this makes me think the problem is in the 120VAC HEAT control circuit that energizes the circuits that power the toe kick heaters. I’ve searched for a blown fuse everywhere I know to look. I have also tried to locate the Techlink node that controls the 120VAC toe kick heaters but haven’t found it (or them) yet.
If anyone knows where there is a fuse or where the Techlink node(s) is or has any other suggestions, I would appreciate the help and information.
The manual also has a note stating that the galley 120-volt heater operates on inverter power as well as shore and generator power. That galley toe kick heater will operate when the 120VAC circuit breaker is switched on and will stay on constantly until that CB is switched back off. That makes me wonder if it will ever be controlled by the SMX panel?

Try this: Works on our ’06 XLII.
Galley: Push “120v Heat” button on breaker panel (not “12 v Heat” button unless you want both kick heaters and Webasto to work together). On SMX in galley push “Heat” twice. Push “Set” and set temp up or down.
Bath: Push “Bath Heat” on panel on bath wall. There is a thermostat on the bath heater itself on the floor. Adjust dial up if heat won’t come on.

You don’t need the 4 a/c buttons pushed to run toe kick heaters. That’s only for heat pumps and a/c.
Push 120v button in your cabinet or bedroom and go to the SMX controls and push heat twice and turn them up to 90 degrees to test.
If they don’t come on get a flashlight and pick or pencil and on the faceplate of the toekick heater is a little red reset button that is very sensitive, push in to reset.
If that doesn’t work call me but I think you’ll be good.

So sometimes we put too much faith in the accuracy of the Marathon Owner’s Manual.
Thank you, Doug, I now have the bath toe kick heater operating. Evidentally, it is not controlled by the SMX panel in any way. I found the thermostat on that bath heater and set it higher and it does now operate when the bath heat button is pushed. It operates without the 120VAC HEAT button on the 12DC breaker panel being on?
No luck getting the galley toe kick to operate from the SMX panel but it comes on instantly when the CB is switched on in the 120VAC breaker panel even without the 120VAC HEAT button being on. So, how to thermosthaticly control it is yet to be determined. I believe It should work off the SMX panel, maybe a problem somewhere in that control circuit.
Bernie, that leaves me with just the bedroom toe kick heater that is not working, it must work off the bedroom SMX panel with the 120VAC Heat button pushed on. I will try to reset it as you directed and report back. Thank you for your help.

I didn’t think there was a toe kick heater in the bedroom. Was this different in some Marathons? If there is…. mine isn’t working either! -
Our toekick heater is below the sink in the bathroom. Location depends on floor plan, but you should have a bedroom toekick heater. The 120VAC switch on the DC panel needs to be on, press the SMX control heat buttom twice, and set to desired temperature.

We have a toekick heater in the bedroom operating off that SMX controller and one in the gallery operating in a simialr fashion. The bathroom heater operates off the bathroom heater switch only.

The bedroom kick heater may have been an option, mine does not have one. Also, none of mine are on an inverter circuit.

Your coach is same year as mine. if you have a bedroom vanity, the toe kick heater is under it on my coach. Hard to see.
