Dick,
Yes, we have four alternators to go with our four inverters. As Jon said, it’s not that each inverter is attached to an alternator, but I can run all the roof airs going down the road if I want.
There is one alternator attached to the engine, the other three are nicely placed to the right of the engine.

I find it impossible to believe that coaches equipped with 4 Bosch alternators do not have some provision for alerting an owner when one has failed.
But then again there are some coaches with 2 water pumps (for the house), and you don’t know the first has failed until the second one fails. (so much for backup).

Jon,
ON my Marathon when I had house alternator issues, I did get a warning light on the dash it was an Amber square when I called Marathon that is what it’s for. Not sure on a liberty with all the rose pedals and polished chrome and drones that Mark has Perhaps he needs to get out the meter 🙂

Bill: I steal one from General George Patton and paraphrase … Its polished copper on a Liberty, not polished chrome. You’ll find polished chrome in a S&S motorhome.
-
Bill,
I know, owning a Liberty spoils you with all the amenites……… the ‘rose petal’ autofill, the minions that polish all the copper and the drones that appear at a touch of the I-pad for air condtioning filter replacements, etc…… it’s all included in the price. :o)

I understand the desire to covet the Liberty coaches, but the use of multiple Bosch alternators is a Prevost design, and as I think of it those were offered on multiplex coaches. That has me thinking that the message center may be where an alternator failure may be revealed.

I found that there is a ALT idiot light, and in the MCD is will tell you if it is ALT 1 (bottom on mine) or ALT 2 (top one on my bus). I assume that the newer ones with 4 alternators would show something similar.

I just had three alt’s replaced at Liberty in N. Chicago on my 14 Liberty ( 4 inverters & 3 LI batteries). The only indication I had is that I could not run 2 AC’s going down the road without eventually getting a low voltage message on the DID and then the AC’s would shut down. They had to isolate each alt. to determine if it had the proper ouput. (cause?….bad batch of Bosch alt’s Prevost installed)
I did have a coach (Prevost side ) alt failure on my 12 Liberty and I had an orange rectangular icon indication in the DID for that one.
