Inject Resp Time Long

This was on my Detroit Diesel display. It says Inject Resp Time Long, which I translated as Injector Response Time Long. I know what Google brings up, but has anyone had this exact alert? If so, what was going on at the time and what was the problem and solution?
Thanks to Jeff Rowe and others, the bus and my girls are safe, but I need to have as much information as possible soon. I would appreciate some feedback in the next day or two if you know anything.

FLASH CODE 61 – INJECTOR RESPONSE TIME LONG
Flash Code 61 indicates that the time it takes from when the DDEC ECM requests an injector to be turned on to when the injector solenoid valve actually closes is longer than the high limit of the expected range. Engine oil temperature must be greater than 87F (30C). The SAE J1587 equivalent code for Flash Code 61 is SID 001/0, or SID 002/0, or SID 003/0, or SID 004/0, or SID 005/0, or SID 006/0.
This diagnostic condition is typically:
ï‚· Bad injector harness and or connection (high resistance)
ï‚· Poor vehicle grounds
ï‚· Sticky solenoid valve
ï‚· Injector failure
ï‚· Bad stator
NOTE:
The injector diagnostic SID (Subsystem Identifier) indicates which cylinder number has an injector with a long response time. The injector number describes the cylinder and or bank, which has the injector with a long response time.
Injector response times generally increase with low battery supply voltage and decrease with high battery supply voltage. Although injector response times vary from injector to injector at a given rpm, each individual injector response time should remain relatively consistent from one firing to the next. Wide variations in response time (typically ± 0.2 msec) for one injector at a steady engine rpm may indicate an electrical problem (faulty alternator or voltage regulator, poor or broken ground cables, etc.). -
As a update for Davy….He has a issue with the harness, last word was Prevost was trying to find a harness….when found then the engine will be slid out and the harness will be replaced…..while out the valves will be adjusted and probably new injectors….

Davy got towed to Prevost Dallas, which Prevost is going to slide the engine in and out, while a 3rd party is going to do the valve adjustment, harness and injectors…..

Sorry, guys, I have been a little tied up with this and all our regular activities too. Thanks, Jeff, for keeping the post updated.
The bus is at Prevost Houston and we are about 80 miles south of there this week. I have been driving up to the bus every day. We were supposed to travel to eastern Alabama tonight, but that is obviously not happening. I am hoping it will be finished early next week. I will try to write it all up after that with pictures.

Davy many of us are anxiously following to predicament. We’re very interested to know what the problem with the harness was … chafing, broken connector, Short, animal knowing, etc.
Did something precipitate the other engine work? Or is it being done proactively?

Davy will post all his story when things are completed…..Harness issue more than likely caused due to failure without real cause…Injectors and valve adjustment are proactive since the engine is out and he has more miles on his engine than most motorhome coaches….therefore with his mileage injectors were the smart route…However there was a shocking find on top of the head which I will let Davy fill in as he has the pictures etc…..Hopefully Monday or Tuesday he will be out test driving it and then back on the road(with a MUCH lighter wallet)..Sorry Davy had to add that..

As for the shocking find…
He had just removed the valve cover and the mechanic was shining his light down in amongst the valves. I was standing on the opposite side of the engine when I heard him say excitedly, “Oh No! Look at that!” Trust me, those are not the words you want to hear at that moment.
What was it? It was an oil soaked shop towel tucked between valves 3 and 4.
Here it is out of the engine.
I thought some of the guys were going to have a baby heart attack when they saw it, which is pretty cool since the guy who found it and I were already having matching baby heart attacks.
I have owned this coach since March 2008. I have driven it 170,000 miles. It had about 180,000 miles from two previous owners. The first owner kept meticulous records including transcribed phone conversations with Prevost and Featherlite. The second owner left behind great maintenance records as well. There is NO mention of this engine ever being opened.
That leaves me to believe that shop towel has been in there since January 1995, 24 years and 350,266 miles.
I shudder to think about what could have happened during any one of those miles. If you look closely, you can see the shop towel has a few ripped places. It looked like the constant motion of the valves was leaving the mark. It could have been inching closer to a catastrophic failure.
Have you ever seen this? What would happen with that mixed in among the valves? My head has been spinning since it was found Friday.
Makes me wish I was on social media and knew how to use it. I would put these pictures on Detroit’s Twitter or Instagram.#SurgicalSpongeLeftInTheBody
I will have more once we are on the road and have a few miles under the wheels.

I just hate it when people are all done polishing their slack adjusters and then start polishing their valve springs and forget to take their polishing rag with them.

Must have been a quality rag back in the day Davy, it held up well.

According to Davy’s serial number, that rag was left in there on purpose as a test for future reference, such as updates to the Detroit maintenance manual. And it’s durability would have been assessed at the 60,000 mile tune up. Right?

So to make matters worse, after the install the coach ran and then began dumping oil……so out came the engine again….the guy putting it together didnt check the new gaskets well, which left voids etc…..engine back in and I believe it is getting a good road test in the morning…

Test drive of aprox 40 miles went well….Everything looked good and on the road Davy went….aprox 100 miles later coach shut down, restarted ran 15 seconds…everything appears ok via gauges etc….So one way or another he is heading back to have the 3rd party that Prevost had suggested figure it out….
