  • Manual door drop

Posted by Jacky on August 21, 2015 at 8:22 pm

Again we are new to Marathon/Prevost. Can someone explain to me the function of the manual door drop on a Marathon. I see a push button, a pull lever and what looks like a pressure gauge. It appears that if your air door drop doesn’t work you can use this manual process to drop the door. But what about closing the drop door? Also, what do you do if you loose air to retract the sewer hose and power to retract the power cord. There appears to be no easy way to manually retract either of these items. How can you drive away if you can’t retract these?

Don’t worry as long as you were able to extend the hose Marathon has built in a second air tank in the rear tank bay. When you extend the hose you hear a rush of air. That is the knife valve opening from that AUX tank. 2 nd tank refilled is only used for hose operation. If you have a malfunction someplace else in the system your 2nd tank could bring in the hose.

. Size around 4-5 gallons. With check valves and auto electric/pneumatic solenoids you’ll have enough to retract the hose.

The pull lever is a by pass to release air pressure from the piston that pushes or pulls the drop down door.

As the electric cord questionI I cannot remember a Glendinnng Cablemaster hose reel malfunction.

It is extremely rare Glendinning made their name developing the power cord reel in the marine industry. That power cord reel is built to live in the harsh world of salt water environment.

In the RV world it’s an easy life.

I have heard stories of problems when both are still connect to land and the bus drives away.

Hint and just my opinion; Before you move the bus the last thing you do is a 360 around the bus…period

    JD,

If the sewer hose auto retracts fails… you can just crunch up the hose and push it back up into the slot and then lift the door. I haven’t ever had to manually retract the power cord but I have seen where you can access the winder where it goes so in a pinch I think you could manually pull that in as well. Good questions…
