  • Black Water (Sewage) Holding Tank Flusg System

Posted by John on March 9, 2015 at 4:01 pm

No Fuss Flush system will not take water. Suspect a chenk valve in the inlet line may be stuck closed. Does anyone know anything about this system and if there is a check valve where it may be located. Thanks.

    Should be “Flush System”.

John on my coach there is a garden hose connector in the plumbing back that you connect the male end of a garden hose and turn on the water and thats it.

I don’t know of any kind of valve on the connection, run a piece of wire up in the outlet and see if it goes a few feet.

Don’t use any force just see if you meet some resistance.

When I open the fouth bay door on drivers side it is down in the left corner of the vertical partition.

I’m having the same problem on my coach. I have soaked it in CLR and other liquids…no joy. With those liquids soaking, I tried putting just a bit of air priessure…no joy. I suspect the nozzle/atomizer mounted in the wall of the tank is corroded to the point of stopping up. Sadly, it is glassed in and I’m a bit reluctant about removing it without a certain fix in hand….so it remains stopped up.

Anyone got any thoughts about this, I would appreciate very much.

    Btom,

Me too, the black flush won’t take water. There must be a check valve to prevent back flow and I think that is the problem. I’ll be taking it all apart when I get home, but hopefully someone with a Marathon has already done this and can give us some pointers.

Sounds like Tom has an excuse to buy a new bus…

Those jets do clog shut and getting to them is labor intensive. If you have a maceraor pump on your bus, hose water can be back flowed into the maceraor outlet when the black tank is empty. The flow helps to sweep the bottom of the tank and empty out thru the 3″ normal drain. Water flows backwards easily thru the pump. Of course it is NOT on. Better than nothing.

    John,

I have the CC plumbing schematic for my coach and I would assume it might be similar. It does show a check valve ( labeled 10351×3 ) in the system and an anti-siphon valve ( labeled 10351×2 ).I would be happy to take a picture of the schematic and send to you or anyone who would like it. It may at least help you in conjunction with looking at your coach to get some feel about location.

    Tom…

I took enough paneling off to be able to see the tank/sprayer/hose from the hose connection all the way to the tank….dang if I saw a check valve. It did loop way up high above the tank and back down like an anti-siphon setup might do, but I saw no check valve. It would sure be great if there was one, because I could change it and get back in business….but unless someone can show me the check-valve, I gonna have to assume the spray-nozzle is clogged.

Come to think about it…isn’t the check valve more than likely built into the hose connection?

If you find out there is a check-valve, please let me know.

Come to think of it, I think I will remove the paneling tomorrow and see if I might can get a keen wire into the back of the sprayer nozzle..maybe punch around with that a bit…..just don’t remember what it looked like. I’ll get back on how that goes….ty

Ok. Here’s all that I know. Mine was working fine, then all of a suden it wouldn’t take any water and now that I can’t flush it out the quantity indication is not working right. Probably from being dirty. If it was the spray nozzle I think that it would have quit gradually. I talked to Jim Keller about it this week-end and he said that there is a check valve and that it’s gotten to from the right side of the coach and that it’s not easy to get to it. I’m sure that the system has a check valve to keep it from flowing back to the inlet if the tank got full enough. Any schematics or photos or other info would be appreciated. If the check valve can be found then maybe it could be fixed simplt by malitizing it.

When I got my coach a few weeks ago the water system wouldn’t take any street (city) water. I found that the pressure regulator was stuck closed. Malitizing it had no effect so I had to remove it, free it up and lubricate it and now it works fine. Again, since mine worked fine one day and then on the next use wouldn’t allow any water at all through the system I think that there must be a stuck valve in the system. Access to mine is exactly as described by Charles.

One more thing. There is a spring loaded check valve in the city water inlet line just before the pressure regulator. I cleaned it also and that’s the type of check valve that I would expect the flush system to have.

And George, yes I would love to have a picture of the schematic.

You can also backfill the system from a dump pipe cover with a hose connection on it if you don’t have a macerator system. Probably not a very pleasant job, but definately doable with little trouble.

John, I just emailed the schematic. Good luck.

The check valve is usaully right behind or part of the hose connector. You can get a new one at Camping World or such.

I realize nobody gives a shit (pun intended) but a fresh water connection to a waste system violates every single plumbing code in the nation. Even with a check valve or a backflow preventer it is illegal although nobody such as a plumbing inspector will ever do anything about it.

If you want to safely scour the bottom of the black tank flush the toilet many times after dumping the tank, and then redump the tank.

I have never posted before as I am not a Prevost owner. I did however own a Country Coach that had a “No Fuss Flush” system. The problem with the system is the holes in the sprayer nozzle become clogged. No amount of water or pressure will unclog the nozzle. The only solution I found was to remove the nozzle from the tank–3 screws & break the silicone seal, clean the nozzle, and reinstall using silicone to reseal. Nothing I tried over an 8 year period kept it from clogging up. The best I found to slow the clogging process was to dump the tank by 1/2 full and this did not stop it. I wasn’t able to add a link so just google “No Fuss Flush”.
There are some good pictures of the installation. Your systems should use a vacuum breaker as the check valve.
There is also the owners manual pdf available at the link.

    Hope this helps…………………………..
