If the water inlet valve is, in fact, opening, the most common problem is a clogged screen. I have seen this happen several times.

    Hopefully it’s a quick fix…

Odd, I’ve had an electrical failure which didn’t allow me to operate solenoid but I’ve never had your problem.

In any event, am I correct in assuming you normally fill tank until water overflows through a vent tube? If so, to get you moving, you can disconnect the fill hose going into the top of the tank and fill directly with a garden hose.

David, my inlet valves are manual so I can’t help if it is a solenoid or valve problem, but I recently had a situation where after manually opening the fill valve I still could not get water to flow to the tank. It turned out that the in-line pressure regulator between the water inlet and the tank fill valve was preventing water flow. If you have a permanently installed pressure regulator, that may be the problem. Mine is braised into the copper plumbing so not removable (by me), but I was able to disassemble the regulator from the bottom and remove the guts, which solved the problem. Those regulators are intended to have constant pressure on them, but in an application like a bus, which might have long periods with no pressure applied and no water in the valve at all, the internal seals and springs deteriorate. The one on my house still works fine and it is over 40 years old.

David, good to hear it was such an easy fix. Shucks, I had the Fla numbers but can’t remember what I did with them…they were simple too.

Has anyone ever wondered why psychics never win the Powerball Lottery drawings?
