OTR idler bearing
Time to again check everything that the belts spin on the DD60. So, I took all the belts off. All was well except for the bearing in the 3″ dia lower OTR ac idler. It sounded a little dry. I took it off, knocked it out, and found one locally for $50, they cost $20-30 online. The brand I bought is JAF. The pt# is W304-2RS. Its inside bore is 20mm, the outside dia is 52mm. The width is 22.2mm.
The old one is on the left.

Thanks Don, for that valuable post. Changed both of those idler bearings last fall at about $70 each. Will keep your reference for future use.

Decided to change 2 more the idler pulley bearings. One in the 5″ double groove pulley for the OTR ac compressor. The other is for the clutch fan. The Prevost pt# is 507014 – $18 ea. Dimension is 20mm x 52mm x 22.2mm. Another pt# is 5304 2RS, available online from many retailer. JAF brand pt# w-304-2Rs, like I used before, will also work.

Did you need a press to get them in/out?

I used a press to get them out, but a hammer and socket(or whatever) will work if a press isn’t handy.
I used a socket, and hammer going back in.
Good snap ring pliers are needed too.
Pay attention to the spacer placement/orientation when taking things apart. Make certain to put them back together the way it came apart so the pulley and the belt(s) aligned properly with the other pulleys.

Don, A year ago you posted about rebuilding your OTR A/C idler pulley, a 5 inch 2 groove pulley. Do you have a part # and where to purchase. Thanks in Advance, Darrell in Dallas,Texas

I didn’t change the pulley. I changed the bearing in the pulley. Part#s are in this thread in my previous post. The pulley you might get from PrevostParts or a salvage yard.
