2001 H345 Window Blows Out On Freeway
So there I am, cruising down I80 in Nebraska minding my own business when I glance at the drivers mirror and notice something that seems to be flapping in the wind outside the coach. At first I can’t quite figure out what I’m seeing because I don’t know what it could be. About the time I start slowing down to pull over and see what it was it breaks loose and smashes on the freeway. I then realized it was the huge window behind the drivers position that has just separated from the coach. Since it’s dual pane there is still one pane left in the frame but had a vehicle been next to the coach when that huge window let go someone could have been killed. After stopping I realize beyond the window blowing out it mangled the paint on the side of the coach on it’s way down to the pavement
Has ANYONE heard of anything like this happening and more than that does Prevost have any liability in a situation like this? Any suggestions from the veterans on this site on who to contact (Marathon or Prevost) would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, had a friend just a couple months ago have the same thing happen while parked in a campground. No mowers around and parked between two other coaches. It was an XLII and was the big window by driver.

Am i correct in my understanding that a window that is over 20 years old failed and one of your first questions is who is liable?

I had same window blow out year before last coming home from Colorado it happened 4 miles from home it didn’t touch Coach or tow car .got nosing real quick

enlarge your picture. that window has been replaced you can see where inadequate sealer was used. wouldn’t have lasted that long.

Actually my first question Joshua was WTF? The question of liability was probably 13th or 14th after all the questions about how and why this happened.
Perhaps “liability” was a poor choice of words since it immediately conjures up thoughts like “lawyer” and “suing” which was not my intent. I was simply wondering if this window had not been replaced (as Robert suggested) and was Prevost OEM that they might show me some love and help me out with the replacement. Sure it’s a long shot, but that’s how I roll.
Dual pane windows don’t just separate like that. A permanent window should remain permanent regardless of age.
Let’s not get our panties in twist here over semantics, I just thank god there wasn’t a car next to us when it let go because someone (or several) could have been killed.2005 XL Thompson Coach

Hey Tom, did your friend ever say what caused the window to let go.
Just curious since this seems to be a fairly infrequent occurrence.

Guys , pay attention to what actually happened to the window. It has separated . The outer glazing came apart from the inner. The inner is still intact, bonded to the the coach as intended. I have the exact same thing happening on our 2006 H-3 . It’s only separated on the lower edge , not close to failing. Watching it one every run we make. Been going on for 2 years.

Not trying to be too harsh, but too many times i see people jumping to who’s fault is this rather than how could I have caught this before it happened.
Without pictures of the glass panel before or pictures of the manufactures date and part number of the glass you would be hard pressed to get Prevost to help with the cost of repairs or replacement. Just my opinion tho

Lardog, he has no idea what caused it, just had to suck it up and have it replaced.

Sadly, since the glass is now road kill on I 80 and I have no way of confirming if it was OEM glass I’m afraid you’re probably right Joshua.

I ordered window from Prevoist had local glass install had non deductible ins they paid me back
