2000 Prevost – 3M Front Shield Removal
Front shield got a little messy last couple years, decided to remove it.

Need suggestions/past practice for front coach protection mainly against chips…
– install XPel Ultimate film or
– ceramic coating
I am leaning towards Xpel…costly but if on 6-7years replacement plan might be worth it.

Per Wayne, price went up $100 in 2019, but he honored the quoted 2018 price.

Have H3 Same model year as yours, recently got a quote from ugly shield $1,100. No question he does a good job, just trying to justify the $1,100 after spending lots of $$$$ to get my coach mechanically up to par, plus have to commit $$$$ for wife to do her interior items

Thanks Al, it really looks great now.
Tom, I mentioned that to him while he was working on the coach, said he will consider it. Quality is his primary focus, will take some time hire and properly train personnel on the removal. He suggested in 2018 he completed about 385 removals, of course with his father / son assistance. It is a very tedious job…took them from 9am until 5:30pm, with 15 min lunch to complete. I have a message into him, his decision what he wants to do going forward.
Chuck, I understand, yes it is costly…ourselves were putting this off since 2017, tried couple ways to clean it myself without success, so I did the research and decided to let the professionals do it. Just FYI, Marathon is quoting about $2,500 to remove the shield and install the new Xpel Ultimate, coach at their facility for 3 days, no warranties if paint comes off during the shield removal…
I am not sure how Wayne quoted your service, on ours he was just next door, looked at the shield and gave me the quote. I know lots of his customers are driving to Fort Myers where he has an arrangement at / with Seminole RV that allows him to get the work done on their property. FWIW, I have no incentive or other benefits by suggesting his services, just happy with the outcome for our coach, a good honest service deserve praise as far as I am concerned.

Mine looked even worse; I did mine myself, serious PIA; It took me multiple days working off and on. I used Goo Gone and plastic putty knifes. I found it best to do it in the dead of summer in the direct sun.

First and foremost, any protective film should be removed within the first seven years of usage. Within seven years, it should come off without too much effort. It’s important to have the surface fully detailed prior to applying the film.
After speaking to experts, I’m to understand the best level of protection is to use a high quality film such as XPEL Ultimate and add ceramic coating over the film. All ceramic coatings are not created equally as the brands sold in Walmart are not the same composition as those used by experts. And, it’s much more protective than automotive grade wax. Applying ceramic coating is not an easy job and is best left to the detailing pros who do this for a living. Film and ceramic coating will give the bus a hard finish that will ease the chore of removing bugs and assist in minimizing rock chips.
I’ll add that ceramic coating should be applied indoors and kept out of the rain for two to three days to give it time to cure.

Thanks Andy, was looking at Xpel but not aware of the need of ceramic coating on top of it.
AvalonKing seems to be a good ceramic coating? Looking at the 7 – 8 years film removal, ceramic coating investment should be minimal?
