  • Bay TV Upgrade

Posted by Archived on February 24, 2015 at 9:04 pm

My bay TV was the old 40 lb. fat TV and was pretty small. Thanks to Tim for the suggestion and how to do the job easy and not too expensive. For about 300 bucks, we now have a smart TV that still hides in the cabinet without any modification.

I wanted to retain the Marathon sound system, so I hard wired the speaker outputs from inside the new TV to the original inputs to the Marathon amplifier.

    Truk,

Nice, upgrade really looks good. You make a good point hardwiring to original speakers. When tailgating amping up volumn is needed.

Smart TV hook-ups on Marathon are pretty easy to do. Anyone else thinking of that upgrade ?

I heard that Dish dropped Fox from their selection.

Looks good Tom…if you want any of that Clarion Stereo stuff let me know, I have two extra head units, and 2 or 3 remotes…I removed all of it, would have the disc changer too but it died.

Mount was from Best Buy and the TV is about 30 or 32, don’t remember.

I can get you details if you want.

Tom, I am looking to complete same upgrade outside, can you please provide part numbers / TV size that will fit into the opening? Also, did you remodel / removed the old Sony from inside the coach? Thanks, DT

TG, does the fit inside the original opening in the cabinet or is sitting upfront?

    Dorel,

Your best bet for the bay TV is to measure yourself, I don’t want to suggest the wrong size not knowing if your bay cabinet is identical to mine.

Inside, I removed the original 75 lb. monster and replaced with a flat screen mounted external. I built a door for the hole in the cabinet to mount the TV and now use the space for my wireless printer and storage.

    Looks good, 40″TV?

Door hinged on the button side of the photo or used exiting screws(will not make sense if the box is now storage / media center?

TV is mounted / screwed on the door, correct?

Are you still using the DVD player in the bedroom to play DVD’s?

I assume you made similar upgrade in bedroom? Thx
