Purge valve??
On my power Tech gen I just replaced fuel filters and fuel pump, a while ago replaced small fuel that goes from 1st injector to this purge valve, here is a picture. lower 5/16 hose goes to fuel filter small Gates hose to injector from this valve with knob. What is the knob used for??

This is a made up answer.
I have no clue what the original intent of that knob is, but if there is a fuel interruption such as changing fuel filters, running out of fuel etc. I connect the fuel pump on my generator to a power source, open the valve and let the fuel pump pump fuel.
I have started the engine with the valve open, but close it as soon as the engine is running.
I think it opens a path for fuel past the injectors and into the return line.
But I don’t know for sure.

I’m not certain of it’s exact purpose either. At some point in time, here on PC I learned that it is to always be cracked open 1/4 to 1/2 turn for normal operation.

On my Kubota motor I use it to drain air out of the system. If motor doesn’t start after fuel filter changes or sitting to long , crank and open/twist round valve and it will bleed air out to start.

Once I used it as it seems a number of us do, I close it. but if the generator runs with it open who am I to argue.

I’m with you Jon, I use it when bleeding the system but close it after that. Mine is always closed during operation without any problem what so ever.
