Fuel consumption
Can anyone tell me the difference in fuel consumption between the 17.5 kw and a 20 kw generator?
And what would be the advantage of one over the other if any?

The fuel consumption comparison would be negligible. The choice of
17.5 vs 20 is determined by the converter based on AC loads, such
as 4 A/C’s instead of 3 and other electrical components. -
Other than a slight difference in internal friction on the two engines my guess is the fuel you use is directly related to the power you consume. I have a 20 KW and one of the best things for a generator is to run it hard and often. Because of that a 17KW may actually be better because the most I have ever been able to load my generator is about 100 amps total and that was with all ACs, water heater, and using the grille.
As a practical matter fuel consumed by our generators is such a small part of the cost of owning a coach it is irrelevant. I ran mine once for about 170 hours and the fuel used was about 71 gallons.
