Prevost OTR For Leak Checks

you’re fortunate enough to have Prevost OTR, another benefit is to be
able to pressurize the bus to track down a water leak. Many with
Prevost OTR already know this, but this is my first OTR and actually
doing it to find a leak was a breeze. There is a baffle (sort like a
chimney flue) with it’s normal position being closed to recirculate
air.There is a restrict-or plate on the bay door to prevent outside air
from being used because of dust and dirt that will be blown into the
bus while driving. You have to remove the air intake hose and then
open the baffle. Turning on the OTR blowers at fast idle creates
so much internal pressure it takes two hands to force the entry door
closed, amazing.I
easily found my leak, the gasket on the light.. Oh by the way Gil,
your CC OTR won’t be doing this.:)

Tom is showing a leak in the side panel, but there is no end to things you can check using this method.
If you have a pesky leak on the roof you will find it this way. If your door is making wind noise as you go down the road squirting soapy water at the door seal area while someone inside the coach engages the air door lock will identify the area that is creating the wind noise.
You can use this to verify a newly replaced windshield will not leak.
Unfortunately it won’t help you find leaks in the bays due to a bad door gasket.

Tom, you are correct. My XL with rivets will not bubble at the seems. I guess I now know why the extra 700+ pounds, additional 10s of thousands of dollars, and two lost storage bays that come with the Prevost OTR air is so important to some 😉
All I care about is comfort and my CC OTR air does a great job at that.

also in the evap bay you can take the wires off the blower motor and use a 24 volt battery charger. I think that would make it a (green) earth friendly repair then…works well in a shop so you don’t have the exhaust.
