Wonderful Florida
Who ever is in the state of Florida better get out wihin the next couple days due to this massive Hurricane Irma.I’m in Pennsacola ,hooked up and heading north in morning.The diesel prices have went up .30 a gallon down here. They say if it hits anywhere in Florida it’s going to take all of Florida ! …………Steve

Im sitting in Dallas waiting for the aftermath to head into Florida and check on my place outside of Ocala. figure it will be a good stop over for hitting the east coast for work if this thing is as bad as its predicted to be.
Maybe spending another fall in the carolina coasts like I did last fall after matthew.

I know what you’re saying Steve and it scares me! I have kids and grandkids in Tampa and Tallahassee and I hope based on what we’re seeing that they will pack up and head up here tomorrow! The news is saying there’s no doubt Irma will be a Cat 4 when it hits Cuba and the models are unsure after that. But it looks like all other possible directions it may take puts it hitting Florida!
My wife also has a sister and best friend there so we may have a full house! If Texas told us nothing else it told us “grab your possibles and get”! I hope my family is smart enough to do that. My wife says she did’t raise any idiots… We’ll see!

My little baby sister (50 yrs. old) and her husband live in Boca Raton, FL. I told them to ‘high tail it’ to TN and stay with us if needed.

Wife and I are flying into Punta Gorda tomorrow am. Hopefully the predictions are wrong!

We traveled from upper WI today to a little ways into IL for the night. Tomorrow will head for Cincinnati and consider further repositioning depending on where Irma goes. We have a bunch of good neighbors in Hollywood who are staying put for the storm and will be able to tell us if our roof is gone. In which case we’ll head home to deal with that. Assuming, of course, there are any phone lines that survive.

I have a friend in Puerto Rico, He is saying this morning he has never seen wind like he has seen already. If I lived in FL I would be heading out and not in to FL. Although it now seems they may be changing the forcast a bit.

I know you live in W NC. I remember one she storm that came in SC (maybe Hugo) and went straight for the mountians. At the time I was an avid trout fisherman. That storm blewout all my favorite creeks. All line predictions at this time have Irma going through NC somewhere. Looks like you got 4 lines of prediction coming to you and I have one line that is right on me. Should weeken by the time it gets to us.

Florida is not looking too good right now and they just said Tampa may get the worst of it. Our home here in NC house easily sleeps 8 and 10 in a pinch. We’re at 19 now! I always told my wife these kids were a bad idea!Harry

Waiting in Cincinnatti and watching the storm. “You know you live on the coast when you watch the Weather Channel as though it had a plot line”. If neighbors report our house is damaged, we’ll have to head down to Hollywood but we’re hopeful we’ll be lucky. Linda

While enjoying the beautiful Tennessee weather, I’m watching the local Tampa FOX affilate live news. They are predicting a major power outage and uprooted trees. I hope our Friends located in Florida’s west coast area remain safe during this storm.
For the people who wonder why we live in Florida with all the hurricanes, I can say that we get quite a bit of notice when one is heading our way. It’s up to the individual to decide whether or not to evacuate when a storm is headed to the state.

Well I got out of Florida wednesday and am now sitting safely in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. What a tough drive, a lot of traffic. Before I left Pennsacola, a case of the small water bottles were selling from 800 to 1000. What a shame.I drove up I 65 and could’nt tell you the number of power trucks in caravans from other states heading south to help.Hundreds of them. Steve

I’m still sitting in texas waiting till the storm clears the state and then will that way to check on my place and to go to work getting individuals somewhere close to what they had before this weekend.
Unfortunately this storm is going to be a long term devistation that may cause long term ramifications when people find out they lost everything and there is nothing there to get them back.
I imagine the real estate marking is going to take a massive hit with large number of forclosings that are worth nothing due to the damages.
