anyone have a good place stay in yosemite ? planning on going in august .

It’s a Beautiful, but it’s busy.
One fall, I did a day trip in and out from the east side of the park in a 26′ class C. In spots it was tight, whindy, and super steep. I burn’t up new brakes. I wouldn’t do it in my Prevost. I would have to go so slow it would cause a major traffic jam.
Plus, I had 2 large dogs with me and the park wasn’t “dog friendly” for overnite stays.

When 2 years ago in June with a 40 ft coach. I believe rv camping sites were set up in the old days when a big rv was 30ft. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. are then any places close to the park like west yellowstone? where you can leave the coach and drive thru the park with the toad ? Maybe making it a 3-4 day visit…

Yosemite is hard, even 47 yrs ago on a motorcycle, it was a clusterf#@%. Geo.

There’s at least 4 or 5 campgrounds in West Yellowstone according to RV Parky, but I thought you were originally asking about Yosemite.

I was using west yellowstone as a comparision … we stayed a grizzy rv park just out side the entrance of yellowstone . i was hoping there was something like that by the entrance of yosemite

you might consider this one if you want to come and go from the east.

Yosemite Pines on the west side of the park is nice. They have room for you. About a 45 minute car ride to Yosemite valley.

We were there 3 weeks ago. We drove a car – not the coach.
We caught it on a weekday before peak season, so traffic was manageable.
It’s absolutely beautiful this year.
However, I expect that this Summer will be very difficult due to the closures of much of the park and the main access points. Make sure to call ahead.
For us, there was only one way into the park on a one way bridge – each direction had to alternate.

We are at Yosemite Pines RV Park right now. It’s a bit tight for a 45-footer, but we fit. Power is not too good–only 115V before we plugged in, and less than 110V running ACs. Came up 49 from Bear Valley–interesting drive going up and down some steep, curvy roads down to the Merced river, and back up on the other side. Margrit insisted I find another way out. She was not too keen on looking straight down the steep slope out the window. If you are coming this way, recommend 120 instead. Coach did fine, though, pulling up steep grades at 20 MPH with OTR AC on, and no overheat!

We made it out of Groveland, and are sitting in Premier RV Park in Redding. We followed 120 all the way down to 99 from Yosemite Pines. The first 10 miles out of Groveland is a steep 2000 foot drop with 20 MPH switchbacks. From there is it California backroads through small towns. Some good fruit stands close to the freeway. The road is much better than the 30 miles of steep up and down roads on 49 with 15 MPH switchbacks. Campground is a bit tight, but no problem. Yosemite is beautiful like always, but hazy, probably leftover from the forest fires. George has a pretty good description of conditions near the village. 30 cars scampering through the parking lot at the Yosemite Village trying to find a parking place. We gave up and went over to the lodge, had breakfast at the food court, and then walked up to the Yosemite Falls. You will enjoy the park. Scenery is gorgeous!

Thanks we head out in the morning , if you have time you should go over to the redwoods from Grants Pass to cresent city … nice drive the last 10-15 miles of the road is pretty cool…. On the redwood highway of coarse
