Won’t start need new batteries
Guys,
I just today made an appointment at a local Prevost Bus shop to get my chassis batteries changed out as they were failing. I went to start the bus today and nothing…. I but it on a charger and got some clicking but no joy. Now it appears I might have to change them out myself to get it out of the garage.
I am not very mechanically inclined and the few things that I do try have a tendancy to end badly. So given all that… anyone care to walk me thru the steps. I recall Big Al saying to disconnect the equalizer but it appears I have three of them… how can I confirm which is the one I need to disconnect?
Then, what is the correct process to disconnect and reconnect the batteries. I am going to call the local NAPA and see if they can hook me up with some group 31 replacements.
I recall reading remove all rings etc and wrap all tools in e tape I think but any other pointers to keep me from blowing myself or the bus up would be awesome.
All the connections are labeled and will diagram and photograph them before I start the removal… but wasn’t sure on the replacement if there was a order… like all positives or one battery at a time etc.
Finally, there appears to be some type of terminal sealer… on everything… what is that called and should I remove it from all the connections and then re-apply.
Thanks in advance for the help!
Bill
