Wheels 315 Vs 365 Tires ?

Thanks for the Link , Kept Me occupied for 30 Minutes without ever finding where they have a Max Cruise speed listed for a 315. They do have it on the 365 -
It is 75 MPH.

Now I can Log that in My ole Hard Drive. And not worry if I get over 65 , But Now I am Limited to 75 ? So 80 Downhill would probably be ok ! LMAO ? -
Let me know when you will be sharing my highway driving 75. I think I will keep mine parked until you go by.
Our coaches all can go faster than any speed limits but stopping from 60 is going to take just under 300 feet, and from 70 as much as 450 feet.

Jon, many people can’t visualize 450 feet. For those, I suggest visualizing 1 and a half Football fields, which is 450 feet.

Well that sure puts a Different Perspective on thing when You visualize 1.5 Football Fields to Stop. That makes ANY Vehicle in front of You within 200 Yards a Potential Hazard ? What Speed do You run on a Hwy that has a 70 MPH Speed Limit with Rolling Hills ?

I tach 1500 which gives me 63 MPH. I just stay in the slow lane and let the crazies fly by then hit their brakes when something surprises them.
I drive different than most as I take the side roads rather than the freeways. Many side roads are divided and have a 65 MPH limit. Yes, you go through towns, but I like to see America since it is the reason I bought the coach.

What is Your Max Safe driving Speed ? I Think I need to Log that into the ole Memory Banks ! Gosh after Triple Foxtrot pointed out 1.5 Football Fields ? That kinda puts it in Perspective a little more. That could be Scary if a Car Stops 100 Yards in Front of You ? It would take a few seconds to realize and React ? Hummm ? Could be a Pucker Moment for sure ! Take that into Consideration , Any Time there is a Vehicle in front of You within 400′ ??? Might as well Drive 55 ! -

The side roads that are less traveled would sure be more enjoyable. As long as they are Divided 4 Lanes. The Two lane Roads that are winding and Hilly are now a lot more scary for Me to think about. Which I have to drive on a few to get Home. I drive 40-45 Maybe on them. Has never happen in My Coach yet , But has Happen While driving a regular Vehicle. That a Car is Stopped to turn left , Waiting for oncoming traffic , After You round a corner or come over a small rise. How many feet does it take to Stop going 40 or 45 ? -
Fred, I’m with you on the back roads, whenever not a lot out of the way, when going to Jeff’s from the south, I always take US411.
I hate Interstates, seems like there is a traffic jam everytime I get on one anymore.

Like Fred I drive at 1500 RPM which is right about the speed he posted.
If you are in a hurry, leave ealier or fly. These are called RECREATIONAL vehicles for a reason.
At the speeds I drive I can set the cruise and let the world pass me by. I won’t be the slowest on the road, but I am close. As a result I rarely have to vary my speed to come up on someone, or to have to pass and driving is very relaxing. As to stopping distances, call me Mr. Obvious, but if you drive the bus like you drive a car you are in serious trouble. You need a lot of space between you and the vehicle ahead and you need to pay attention to tail lights. We not only cannot stop as quick as the average car that needs about 120 feet to stop from 60 (or about 170 from 70), we have little opportunity to change lanes as a means of avoidance so we also have to have our heads on a swivel so when stuff ahead stops quick we know if a fast lane change is an option.

I did not mean that I drive the Bus like I do a Car. I was giving a For Exaple of the things that have happen to Me while In a Car. And saying , Glad it was NOT the Bus on those occasions. But eventually if a Bus is Driven on 2 Lane Back Country Roads long enough. The possibly increases. Like the Best and Safest Motorcycle Riders in the World Eventually Will have a spill if they Log enough Miles. Their old Saying that You can count on is ” Its not If You are going to go Down, But When ?
This conversation got started on The Max Speed of a 315 Tire. I read somewhere that it was 65 on a 315 and 75 on a 365. I could not find the Max Speed / 315 info on the Michelin Website. I did not want to have a 65 Max tire unless that was My only option. The newer coachs were changed to a 365. Was it just for the weight Capacity Difference ? You said the 315 ‘s Max Speed is 75, So All is Good. I consider Myself a Safe and respectful of others on the Road . And if I am in My Coach and the Road is wide open in Front of Me and I Roll along at 70 , And Might hit 75 down Hill. I did not want to And would not be doing it on tires that are only rated for 65. Now with Traffic like maybe i-40 , I will Run around 65. And be more mindful of the Distance between Me and the Vehicle in front of Me. After stopping distances come up in this thread. But like You say , With The Bobble Head awareness because there is always a few Goobers that will fly around you and Pull back into the right lane in front of You. Only to Hit their Brakes to get off the exit in 1/2 Mile. I also have a Good Co-Pilot that watches the Road like a Hawk. -

The reason for 365 tires is because steer axle weights have now reached 19,000 pounds from the previous 18,000.
Even with the 9000 pound capacity of 315 tires Prevost apparently opted for the larger tire with greater capacity so there was a safety margin. If you look at the progression of steer axle weights you will see the tire weight limits have increased right along with those increases.

If a tire is rated at a max speed of 75, then the manufacturer certifies that it can maintain 75 all day long. In other words, it is a continuous speed rating.
It won’t blow up at 76 going down hill…. or 80. Now driving a 10 hour shift at 80 on a hot Texas day might be somewhat iffy.
