Updated tail lights to LED
When I first picked up my coach, I pulled all the tail lenses, polished them, cleaned out the housing and replaced all the standard bulbs with LED bulbs. This provided a decent upgrade in brightness, but I really wanted to make sure I was not going to be missed while driving down the road (hey, you would be surprised how many people don’t see a 45′ coach next to them). Came across some details on a fellow Prevost owner doing some conversion setup to full LED setups. The morning after I came across the details, I was down at parliament and ran into another owner who just had his swapped out at the Air and Coach show. They looked great and were super bright.
Got the contact info and setup getting a set for me.
Very nice, very professional conversion and super bright. Simple plug and play and from the back it’s as if they came from prevost directly. Oh and the price was better by a good amount then any other suppliers out there.
Have all new LED marker lights and replacement lenses on their way and will jump into the headlights after I do the marker lights. Keeping the look as original as possible but just want to make sure all lights are as bright as possible.

Mark, I didnt even have to install the lights. The guy who made them not only delivered them, but installed them and made sure they worked perfectly.
Now the marker and head lights? That’s all on me. but that’s okay, picked up a couple bins of tools from storage a couple months ago and have my soldering iron, solder and heat shrink so at least I wont need to make 10 different trips to the store to do the job (probably only 5 to make sure I have the right hardware, drill bits, etc.. to replace the screws that have been in there since 1998).

I’m probably the guy that Charles is talking about that changed out lights at the Parliament rally. Gil Johnson is the supplier and I can’t say enough good about him or the lights. I’m very happy with mine. If we could get plug and play marker lights of this quality and as easy to change out, all in the light upgrade world would be very well.

For anyone with a XLV considering a tail light update to LED’S, don’t wait. The tail lights that Gil sells are first class in design and workmanship and are a breeze to install. I installed the drivers side first and turned on the lights and my wife said that the original one was not working. I got out and looked and as I suspected it was indeed working and was just very dim, as compared to the new LED lights. I would recommend this upgrade to anyone since there is really no comparing the two, and Gil is great to work with and has built a first class set of lights.

having these new lights made me realize something interesting. The couple times my wife was following me in a car, she would complain that I rode the brakes. I couldn’t tell what she was talking about? Well with the trailer behind the coach, and the rear facing camera on, I soon figured it out through the reflection on the trailer. As the retarder comes on, the brake lights actually come on. So coming down a hill, the retarder will be on and the brake lights illuminate. With the original lights you couldn’t see a reflection on the trailer while driving.

Charles, you can delete that feature with the Jake or retarder turning on the brake lights by pulling the appropriate relay. I believe it is relay 76 on my coach. Check yours to see if it is the same relay number. All other brake light functions will be normal.

I went with new headlight buckets and LED builbs. Makes about a 200% better difference. You can actually drive safely at night now.
There is another thread that I added some details/part numbers/links for what I went with and pics of the process to swap everything out. Was very inexpensive compared to the HID setup being provided from the couple of companies out there.
