A couple of years back I installed LED’s on the underside of our Old Hoopie. Some folks call them “ground effects,” or “mood lites,” back in the day, truckers used to refer to them as Chicken Lights.
We call ours “Pimp Lights.”
I used United Pacific light bars, they have six lights per bar, double configuration, brake or marker lights, or both. Wired them up in the brake light position (more light) and each light has 14 LED’s or around 84 lights per panel. The bus took 10 panels to complete the underside which would be about 8400 lights all total.
Both of our trailers are also equipped in the same manner. They are wired on heat-shrink butt connectors, and are virtually maint free, long life, and pretty impressive. The only thing I had to do is make sure they could not be seen from a forward position, you cannot run red on the front of a bus legally, underbody or otherwise.
I run ‘em when I want to run ‘em. Have had zero problems in about 16,000 miles and do not expect any in the future. The only thing they are not, is cheap. Costly but you only have to spend it one time.

Forget spinners. The center emblems on the newer R-R’s always are upright. Seems Liberty would do something similar.

Well Al and Truk and Jon, it has been somewhat hectic.
Circumstances dictated that I get some much needed rest and learn how to mellow out without the benefit of Doctor prescribed, Colorado Rocky Mountain High, Medical Marijuanna. Sooooooooooooo, I just been hunkered down here at the Old Goat farm four and one-half miles south of the Super Slab.
Had a couple of heart attacks in April, ended up getting a quad-drupple Widow Maker by-pass (not to be confused with the Interstate junction outside of Orlando), and have healed up from that somewhat. Had to lose some pounds as I was my perfect weight for a man of seven feet tall, but as y’know Al, I am only five foot eight.
One new wrinkle on the page of life, “I no longer tell Heart Attack Jokes.”
Then we got hit with a tornado in May and lost one of our barns. That will be rebuilt and replaced on or around the first of the year. Invested quite a lot of money in a pumpkin farm south of here, then they went and called off Halloween.
To recoup our losses, the Misses and I opened a Senior Citizens Disco in El Reno, Oklahoma, we are calling it “The Slipped Disc.” and surprisingly it has caught on rather quickly with the retired folks around here our age.
Only one drawback, “if you go out to boogie on the dance floor and leave your drink on the bar, there is a good chance, you might find a set of teeth in it when you get back.”
Just thought I would comment on the underbody lights, most of my problems (as you already know) are not Generic Prevost Issues in nature (or any other universe for that matter). Peter: You modify the light panels by cutting out slots for the anchor screws. As for the lights, I got mine thru a Chrome Dealer in Oklahoma City, Eagle Interiors, 405-495-1899, ask for Randy. Here is a shot of the big trailer with the same lights used in a marker configuration (top of the trailer).
FWIW Gregg, we have passed several law enforcement vechicles running the lights on the bus/trailer and nothing was ever said about ‘em at all. I have been flagged for “too many red lights” on my trailer by the D.O.T.. He gave me a $250 safe driving award, nice guys, those D.O.T. folks. Save you some money: “Yellow to the front, Red to the rear, Blue is Emergency Vech. application only. Your mileage may differ. I just think if they were a big deal I figure I would have enough tickets to wallpaper my shop by now.

Just noticed the green turn lights are they in the mirror or on the side windows?

The green light is a reflection off a neon sign in my shop Gregg. Turn signals are yellow to the front and red on the rear.

Yeppers, that by-pass stuff aint much fun, let me tell you. Break you in half like a chicken bone! But I am sure glad that I have my bus almost totally finished as I have this New Hobby now …..
