  • Unbelievably bad…

Posted by Reagan on August 1, 2017 at 8:46 pm

Recently, I determined to take out my driver’s side window because it had fogged and I determined to send it to Suncoast Designers Inc., in Hudson, Florida for replacement.

I called the company and was told that the charge was $275 plus shipping to replace the windows and return. I asked to speak to the general manager on three occassions and he was never available.

We built a very secure cargo box and sent the entire window frame to them. They did receive it in due course and according to them, they repaired it.

They called me back to advise me that they were prepared to send the window back. The charge would be $225 for labor and $150 for the new glass that was required. I advised them of their prior statement of $275 plus shipping and the lady said that was incorrect and that she was present when I recveived the quote.

What really put the icing on the cake was when she abruptly asked “Do you want to pay or have us hold the window?”

SOOOOO, guess what? I will never recommend Suncoast Designers … take your pick…

It really isn’t the money…as any of us would agree… it is the way the challenge came back at me, the customer.

My window arrives tomorrow and I hope it is not damaged.

You should never be treated that way, the management needs to hear from you and adjust your bill accordingly and replace the employee

I had a HORRIBLE experience witrh them in Jan of 2016

Went to have 2 windows done, they did 1200 damage to the paint, that they finally agreed to pay for.

Did not start when promised (appointment), Got stuck with the same new glass crap.

The “manager” is the son of the owner and feels he is priveledged and is a smart ass. They change their story faster than the wind changed direction.

I would drive to Searcy AR before I would go back there.

This is not the first or only report of dissatisfaction with this company.

    Pres,

Sorry to hear about the ordeal. I was wondering why your coach had butcher paper on the window. I just thought the guy next to you in the barn needed to take a nap.

That’s a lousy deal Pres and I’m sorry it happened. As others have said, this isn’t the first time this company has been shown to have terrible customer service! And to act as though you lied and/or made stuff up is really bad form!

Like all of us, our bus is important to us and is a source of pride in both ownership and in the way we keep it up. When you’re delt with like this you have to wonder what they’re returning to you? I hope comes in just the way you want it and you can be happy with the knowledge you don’t have to deal with them again.

after reading this thread, i would say that my thoughts of having my driver and passenger windows fixed by these folks is nil.

What company would be recommended by the community to perform a fix on my 98 XL? Standard issue, the seal is compromised and the interior panels condensate.

Replacing the double pane side glass on XL models is a simple process.

It is not without some consideration however. Prevost will sell the glass panels, but over time they will fog in the middle despite the rather impressive cost. It is because of that owners have explored and come up with a variety of options. The windows can be purchased from Prevost. The windows can be repaired by local glass companies if the interior condensation has not yet etched the glass. The windows can be duplicated by a local glass company. Lastly in lieu of the double pane assembly a single pane auto safety glass can be used, also made by a local glass company.

Removal and replacement is relatively simple and entails cutting the existing seal with a utility knife to remove the glass, scraping the old sealant out, and using the Sikaflex material called for by Prevost the new glass can be installed and sealed.

I have never heard of an XL that has not had the failed windows. Maybe there is one out there.

My passenger side perminint window has water between the panes, you can see through it with no problem but its there. I called Prevost and can get a new one for a little over $300.00 but when I found out the same thing can happen, I thought that may not be a good idea.

I’ve talked with a few folks who had success by cutting a 3/4″ wide by 1/2″ deep cut on the bottom of the window and used a hand vac to suck out the moisture. And another who just took off the inside pane.

Not sure what I’m going to do but whatever it is I want it a perminant one.

Three years ago we had Jeff’s people he contracts with do both fixed windows up front for a fraction of the time what Prevost wanted. We ordered the glass, and had Prevost ship them to Jeff’s place. The outfit did an excellent job for if memory serves, $440.00 labor total for about 1 1/2 hrs of work per side

On a Liberty XL I had the previous owner removed the double glass on the driver side and installed single pane safety glass, it was great.

We had the door window removed and replaced with tinted safety glass a few years back and love it.
