There’s a guy on one or more of the Facebook Prevost sites who condemns the 8V92 engine at any chance he can get. At first no one commented on his derogatory posts. More recently I think the gloves are coming off and he’s being challenged and rightfully so.

Andrew Steele is a nice enough guy, and his friend at Bordur, Kyle, is too. The issue I most often have with Andrew is makes wild ass remarks that are substantiated and / or grossly misrepresents the facts. This is the same guy that did the YouTube video on the $50K delamination. Has quite a few friends with Prevost but he does not own one himself. One day his showing a Prevost talking about how great they are, even older ones, and the next day he is beating the crap out of them because they “may” need maintenance.

Now, thanks to the internet, and people’s willingness to believe what some so called experts are saying there is an incredible amount of absolute bull shit being spread. Some of these so called experts confuse opinion with facts.

Worse, people looking at that experts videos believe it, because it was on you tube or fakebook or somewhere in the internet.

I’m frustrated about the number of seriously prospective as well as current Prevost owners who are on any of the five or six Prevost Facebook sites who ARE NOT on the Previous Community Forum. I’ve been scolded, warned, and given “one last chance” for mentioning PC Forum and I’ve had a post recommending Prevost-Stuff and the PC Forum as good places to find pre-owned Prevosts deleted.

Some of the information on those FB sites is pretty good, some is flat wrong (often because the person giving the information is very ignorant), and the rest is in the middle.

This is consistently the big source for timely, fairly accurate information.

We are nearing 5000 members. When Tom and I started PC and ut it on line in 12/2011 it was with the sole intent to create a site that welcomed all Prevost enthusiasts regardless of what club they belonged to or their converter or their special interests. The intent was to do for owners as one umbrella web site what a fragmented group of owners could not do and that was to use the strength in numbers to provide benefits for all that clubs with smaller membership numbers could not do.

Right from the beginning we ended up pissing some people off because they thought (wrongly) our business model was intended to ruin other clubs, groups or collections of enthusiasts.

Our second objective was as owners, was to help other owners since we knew what it was like to have the overwhelming feeling of helplessness and nowhere to turn. We think we succeeded on both counts.

We are not about stealing anyone’s thunder, stopping anyone from helping other members, but we have not been shy about making known our disdain for people making money off others by providing lousy advice, wrong advice, or by having a conflict of interest and not making customers clear how their conflicts of interest may affect them. Not all who are touted as geniuses, saints, etc have been altruistic. I have never taken a penny from anyone for assisting, I get many emails and phone calls and try to be accurate. Tom can say the same thing and if trying to assist owners makes fakebook people or other groups shun or even censor PC then perhaps when that happens maybe the reason can be sought and shared with us. We don’t think we are doing anything wrong, but if we are let us know.

Good grief Dick, if you mention PC on the other Fakebook site you will have demon darts coming your way, there is only one single expert source of all things known to man. If you cross that line, you may have to move to Mexico. Can’t imagine Kathy going for that deal.

    Ron,

Like politicians i am sceptical of anyone who does nothing but talks about everything. Ive seen him on several Youtube videos and i believe he is a moron.

What I know about my 8V92 is it runs like a champ, doesn’t drip a drop of oil (at least mine doesn’t) and moves my 40′ bus right along without complaint. People walk up to me often saying “WoW that’s the best sounding engine I’ve ever heard. And I’d not even started the engine yet.

I’ve always subscribed to RV Trader to keep track of what 1987 to 1994 Prevost having the 8V92’s. I do this for two reason really, I like to look at different conversions and like to keep up with asking price. It’s amazing to me that my bus is 30 years now and I can sell it for more than I paid for it! I call that bordering on incredible…

Agreed I’ve put a few bucks into the bus over the years but not into the engine except for new jake brake. And to the point, every person I’ve met who knows and has used the 8V92 in real life experience has said “that 8V92 is some kind of engine”. Hey its 30 years old with 185,000 miles and are in demand now more than ever! It seems to me someone saying and 8V92 is a poor engine is not a very smart thing to say.

I am a new person to the Prevost community and to RV ing. Never spent time in a bus or trailer.

I got a lot of education on the bus from the previous owner before making the decision to buy. Yet it didn’t give me info on the technical aspects of the bus which I soon learned were complex for even a Royale without the computer controlled systems.

Attempting to get all items zeroed out takes effort and knowledge. Here is the benefit of PC people who have been there and give unbiased information.

You have a problem JON or Truk4 will respond along with several other people with real experiences to your situation. Their information is real life not hypothetical.

I have an amazement to the comments I see on several of the Prevost XX face book groups as to questions they ask and responses.

So many people have no clue to how to do basic coach maintenance or what is required to troubleshoot a simple problem.

One post says my tires are 6 years old and have cracks in sidewall am I safe to continue driving them, don’t want to spend the cost to replace them as they have great tread left on them.

The inter net had reliable info if you go to a manufacture website and research a particular issue and not ask general participant’s on a facebook page for a solution.

I have to say that PC has been a great resource for information on my attempt to solve several annoying issues and working to zero my coach.

Yeah after letting mine sit through the Covid scare and a few things going south when I went to get it out of mothballs, gen set drops electric after about 20 or 30 minutes, OTR needs charged since last service, I’m getting tired of finding somebody that knows these puppies without driving hours to get it worked on. Did run it a couple times this summer, to get inspected and one a 20 or 30 miles trip to loosen it up and that’s when I found the Wrico problem. Called and they said regulator probably needs replaced. Never really used Gen Set as we run pole to pole, and has about 450 hours on the Kubota motor since new. Harry if you want another second owner, good runner with 97,000 miles, all Houston Prevost Level 3 Serviced, once a year, Holler. Don’t want to let it sit and more chit go south,, Will let you have it for half what you paid for yours..

Just want to thank everyone for their kind comments to us… we really are sad…It’s hard to look at the bus outside and not want to get in it and go.

Hopefully it will be gone soon… it will make an awesome coach for someone !!

When we find a beach house I’ll let you know so you can visit…Al & Buddy… you will have to come to our house to wash the Rolls… it will NOT be going near the beach!!

Jon & Di… don’t forget the great oysters at Pappas at Clear Lake… well, shrimp for you Di & for me too..but lots of oysters for the guys that need them !

Maybe if PC has a rally nearby we will come to visit. New Orleans would be great !!

    Cheers, Diane & Larry

I thought this thread was paying tribute to Larry and Diane who have been long time and loyal PC members who will be missed by many. Why are there so many other topics hijacking the thread here? Jon, I think it’s time for one of your sermons.

Jimbo, you are right. Diane and Larry have been a part of the PC family and we have shared great times with them.

Let’s start new threads for unrelated topics please.
