Slow typing with Google Chrome as browser
I quit using Internet Explorer as my browser when I was going to post to the PC Forum and have been using Chrome for some time on my desktop at home with great results. Now using Cathie’s laptop on the road, I’m experiencing horrendously slow typing in Chrome. So much to say and post, but can’t post like this.

Same prob. Using IE not Chrome. Laptop, Win 8. Maybe I’ll try Mozilla

Dick, I am far from a computer expert but I have experienced slow computing in the past. It should not be directly related to your taking up Chrome from Google. I would recommend a few things for you to try. Go to the Control Panel and try to see in the programs how many have been added over time. Sometimes programs are added as you do updates and they are running in the background and using up lots of RAM slowing the puter. Second, make sure there are not a lot of extension running in the background. Clean the computer and get rid of things that you don’t use. Delete them. Defrag is you have not done it in a while and make sure you have a good virus scanner. Sometimes viruses get into the system and slow the computer down a lot. Avira is a great antivirus program and free if you are not confident in the one you have. I use CCcleaner, and Hitman Pro and use them regularly to make sure my system is clean and free of unwelcome viruses and tracking software.
When I get really bad viruses or have a lot of problems that the fixes above I gave you I use my failsafe, go-to program “Combofix” This is the program of last resort for cleaning and fixing any issues with the computer. It’s on your end boys, we just did a check with our developer and all is good. I’ve tested Safari, Chrome and Foxfire.
If you’re using Chrome, clear your cache.

For Internet Explorer users, go to “Tools” on upper right heading bar, click on “Compability View settings” on the drop down menu, add “prevostcommunity” in the box appearing top left corner of screen, cllick “Add” then “Close” This solves the slow typing issue but may create the inability to upload photos. So you may have to temporarily remove “prevostcommunity” from the Compability Veiw settings box to upload photos.
This website is the only one I’ve had this problem with…..
Since I’m a bad speller, I like to use my word processor to construct a message then copy the type and paste it on the websites. I have yet to find a way to do that on this website… If somebody knows how, please ‘splain me how to do so…

I’m trying what you suggested re: IE and tools. I will have to type at least three sentances before it will prove it works or not. I just thought it was a way that the admin boys could stop us from writing tombs. Bummer, still happening here.I will try a diff computer. -
If I want to type much more than this sentence, I have to use Chrome. Geo.

Chuck – I use WORD and then highlight the entire thing, use “ctrl
C” to copy, then go to the PC site get the cursor showing and hit “ctrl V” to
paste. Works every time.The only thing I have found is that the PC
program will remove the space between the period at the end of a sentence and
the start of the next sentence, and you need to do like you were taught in High
School Typing and double space at the end of a sentence. I use
Word because it doesn’t pause like the PC site, but most important because it
has Spell Checker that I most definitely need from time to time. -

What computer are you using and what browser?
FWIW, using Apple devices on PC have spell check.

Explorer).I also use Chrome and
Firefox, but Firefox has given me problems with Windows 10 while Chrome seems
to do OK.BTW, my use of “New and Improved” is complete and total
sarcasm. -
So Freddy, you’re saying that Chrome works OK?

IE here and if I type enough it gets slow and eventually starts missing letters. I end up having to type in notepad or Word and copy it over. Even with compatibility mode turned on. Backspace is very slow.

Boys,
Your IT guys says it’s the client because they do not want to change their underlying platform. If a platform blames IE, then there is a problem between the platform and IE. Your IT guy needs to work with Microsoft to find a solution.
Basically, what I’m saying is,yes,could be exposed with IE, but the platform interaction with IE is the issue.
