Hey guys, this CAC thing is really important, so please help Karl with the information, he has pretty much taken the lead to wake up Prevost.

I approved the article Karl posted and I am goinmg to try to find out if the bulletin is correct in calling for red flex couplings on the hot side. Until this is determined do not rely on the part numbers shown in the bulletin

Actually the bulletin was intended to prevent clearance issues with the air intake system and to prevent hoses and pipes to separate under the increased pressures of EGR operation. The bulletin has expired.
The bulletin is an excellent depiction of the CAC system for the discussions we are having regarding the correct temperature limits of the flexible couplings in the system.

I attempted to reach someone at Prevost parts and I will have to wait until next week to get the information I was seeking.
I want to know if Prevost is now calling for high temp hoses at the turbo and CAC inlet or if they still call for the lowwer temp rated hoses. This issue dies away if the high temp hoses are specified.

Not sure if this will help your cause or not. I had my CAC replaced at Prevost Mira Loma in 2014. Recalling all the discussion here about hose specs and colors. I sent them an email in advance with the specific part numbers that I believe JOn or someone here posted and told them that is what I wanted. Was told no problem. When I got there they didn’t have them but what they told me is that they no longer stock those parts and now use Volvo equivilent and that they were rated for the needed temps. They also indicated the color of the hose with the Volvo parts didn’t mean anything temp related. In fact they want as far as saying if I insisted on using a Red hose the only one they could get wasn’t the right length or something like that and that they would guarentee it would work. So after a call to Al I went with what they said Which was a blue volvo part. -

I suspect anyone that tells you the color of the hoses doesn;t mean anything is repeating what they have been told to say.
I will order a large size portion of crow to eat if anyone can show me a temperature rating of a color other than the orange / red color that is rated for 500 degrees F.Post it here so all will know I am wrong.
If you have an EGR coach the outlet temp from the turbo is around 500 degrees and the pressure is about 50 PSI. If the wrong hose is installed, and it ruptures your coach is going nowhere.

OK this is what I have found. No temp spec.s as such and not definitive proof, but plenty of parts sites selling hoses for the Volvo D13. They have red and blue hoses available, invariably described as being for either the ‘hot’ side (red) or ‘cold’ side. (blue)
Blue part no. 20550690
Red part no. 85124530 best as I can tell
Take this FWIW, but it suggests to me that there isn’t a “one size fits all” (i.e. blue only) CAC hose and no mention anywhere that there is a new part number that covers both hot & cold applications.
Apologies if I have repeated anything that has already been stated.

What am I missing……I see red on the hot side and blue on the cold side?

Jon,
They have blue for cold side 350 degrees F. And choice of Red and Black for for the hot side and 500 degrees F. The black hose has a High temperature fluorocarbon elastomeric liner.
You may not have scrolled down far enough, its below the blue or cold side hose picture
