If you didn’t need new Dodge parts, you could have bought a new computer!:)

Jon or Tom,
Any thoughts on videotaping your seminars and making them available? Bill and Robert are a wealth of information that I and probably others would pay money to defray costs so that we could have in our Prevost Info Library.
-
No, never thought of a video Kevin. Have you watched the Prevost Webinars on their website? There is some great information there, although a lot of it is geared towards the Techs.
Jon?

Tom, it’s the bus’s fault. If we didn’t have the bus, we wouldn’t need the Dodge or the second computer. But of course, if we didn’t have the bus, we wouldn’t be looking for rally info. See where this is going ?

Yes, Tom, I think the webinars are great. But I think there’s so much other info that could be of great value to Prevost owners if disseminated by video. There’s been numerous times reading Jon’s, Gil’s, Al’s, Tom’s (well maybe) and numerous others’ posts and thinking to myself, gee, I wish I could see exactly how he did that. Wouldn’t a video of Jon working on his slack adjusters be awesome? Well, I could think of a few topics that could more interesting, but it would be priceless nonetheless. Even Google knew it was the right thing to do by buying youtube.
It seems to me that there are 2 kinds of Prevost owners: those who are succesful and would never want to be seen/driven in nothing but the best – the nontinkerers; and those who became succesul tinkering and continue tinkering as a hobby with their Prevost. PC members seems more of the latter. I like to think of myself as a tinkerer, working on spines all day, but unfortunately, that doesn’t translate very well to mechanical/electrical tinkereng on my bus. Because of time constraints and knowing my own limitations, I have the professionals do the majority of it. As an owner, however, I think it’s incumbent to be fairly knowledgeabe on all of the systems to make sure they are maintained correctly and also to avoid being stuck on the side of the road and not knowing what the heck is wrong.
As you know, I went to your last rally and I felt like I couldn’t get enough of it. PC forum and rallies, Prevost webinars and our manuals are the best things going to help us understand. Having video references of the seminars (ie, upcoming rally) with the associated comments of those with other opinions, knowledge and experience would make it greater. Just a thought.

Kevin,
You may be aware that Prevost puts on seminars at their service centers for commercial coach operator’s mechanics. Those seminars become webinars. If you go to the Prevost web site you can access all of those webinars on the commercial coach side of the site.
While those are very helpful and informative, they are not aimed at the typical Prevost motorhome conversion owner, but are oriented toward the professional mechanic or hard core owner who spins his own wrenches. I have asked both Bill and Robert to allow motorhome owners the opportunity to get similar training but oriented toward those of us who are “hobbyists”. I will continue to work on them to see if we can bring that to fruition.
But our motorhomes are vastly more complex than empty space filled with seats. The commercial operators focus on the chassis, but as anyone reading our posts on the forum quickly understand our concerns include the conversion also. Because of that we have to go further and that is why our rally seminars include Prevost’s excellent training by Bill and Robert, but we also try to include converter type information. The LD rally is an example with a converter round table and an AquaHot seminar.
We don’t talk much about what Tom and I do behind the scenes, but as out membership continues to grow (now bumping up against 1000 members) we not only have the ability to pull together programs such as the fuel, Michelin and NAPA programs, we are gaining enough strength in numbers to convince converters to help with seminars and training for those who want it. The problem we face is pulling all the groups together and we are reaching out to all of them in an effort to develop mutually beneficial programs. What is not seen is the amount of time we have to put into this and how we need the full support of our members behind our efforts.
You have brought up an excellent point and I will start by seeing if someone more technically astute than me can volunteer to record the sessions so we can make them available to everyone. But we also need members to contribute by writing articles. I can’t offer you any help on your Marathon, but others with Marathon experience should be able to share information. Ditto with every other conversion. I think members of each conversion should create contact lists and if the members agree we will figure out how to get those lists put together while protecting everyone’s privacy. I do know formal seminars such as those for the upcoming rally almost never include tips such as how to reboot a Crestron system, or how to pull the #76 relay so the brake lights do not come on when the retarder is engaged for example. It is often the little tips that make ownership much more enjoyble.

Anyone attending the Rally that has video experience and would like to help with the Seminar taping? We would need more of a professional video so we could re-produce on the site.
-
You would probably need permission of the persons giving the seminars and the companies represented before posting videos. That is certainly not a show stopper but some companies could be hesitant without knowing for sure what the videos contained. Just thinking out loud.

I do have intentions to make the OKC Rally. If permission were granted, I would be happy to tape the seminars.

You can come and go as you please, but we’ll be leaving for the boat after 4:00.

Hey Tom I know you have been busy but I think you better read that email once more—- they said they would bring the beer !!!!!!! This might call for a rethink.
