Seeing the photos of the Tradewinds booth is a reminder to me that they are a great provider of services to Prevost owners who are in the central Florida area.

Tradewinds is staffed with highly qualified folks who can do everything from complete interior remodels to basic chassis maintenance. They have a very large shop in Deland, FL and the scope of what they do is amazing. If you have a Vantare they possess special expertise in that conversion because of the background of a lot of their folks. If you think you are having inverter issues, or are considering upgrades to your inverters make certain you contact them because they have added an inverter shop to their expanding talents.

Every time Tom and I visit Tradewinds (who as advertisers are keeping your dues as low as possible) we are impressed with the scope of the services they offer.

It was nice seeing the folks from PC at the show. And, when you could make it through the crowd stacked in front of their booths, meeting Tom and seeing Jeff was a bonus!

I’ll add my two cents to say this show is a must see for anyone who is considering purchasing a new or preowned model as there’s quite a few coaches (I think the number was 85) to tour indoors in the comfort of a large air conditioned hall and there’s no shortage of helpful sales folks to answer any and all questions. It’s a great place to see the nuiances between the different converters. So, while it may be too late to make it to this years event, if you’re considering a future purchase, definitely make plans for next year.

    A few tips:

    – Wear socks with shoes that easily slip on. Of course, you need to remove your shoes before entering a coach. Those who wore shoes with strings wasted quite a bit of valuable show time untying/tying their shoes! Those who wore flip flops looked a bit strange walking around the coach in bare feet. Maybe the converters could provide thos booties they give you at the shoe store to the flip flop folks! I did see a few coaches that had shoes left outside the door, but nobody was in the coach. So, make sure you remember to grab your shoes when you exit as you don’t want to wait until you’re on the escalator to figure that out!

    – To The Dealers/Converters: Please, on every coach, place the specs including model year, mileage and asking price on the window of each coach. Since every coach on display was highly polished, it can be difficult for anyone other than Jon to know the vintage of each coach. This would save us the dissapointment of falling in lust with a coach only to find it’s way out of the budget. Or possibly, seeing a beauty and making the assumption it’s out of the range and then learning (after it’s been sold) that it’s it’s that hidden gem you’re been looking for. (Don’t ask me how I know this!).

    – Don’t skip past the Prevost welcoming booth when entering the show as the Prevost Folks manning the booth were very helpful and there’s no shortage of Prevost branded free stuff. I was able to take posession of a Prevost Pen, a Prevost Clip with a magnet for the refrigerator or for placing a note on a coach’s front door and, here’s the big one, a USB reading light for your computer keyboard or to use to plug into a USB port near the bed for nightime reading!

However, since I review products, I’ll provide some input on this one and sadly it seems a mistake was made as the Prevost name was printed over the area that includes the LED’s. This means that when it’s inserted into a computers’ LED port the Prevost logo can’t be seen as the bright LED’s blind you if you look at it. (I guess it’s practice for the upcoming eclipse party) And when it’s flexible neck is bent to arc over a keyboard, only the blank side is visible.

But, I have two possible solutions:

    a) Use the pen (or get a Sharpie) to write the Prevost name on the blank side. Or, you can personalize it with your own name so that there’s no doubt it’s yours. Depending on your name this could slightly increase or decrease the value. I thought about having Tom autograph mine, but he was too busy dealing with real customers! You can also write “this side up” so that you don’t get blinded by the LED’s!

    b) The next time you’re in East Tennessee, take it to Jeff as he can fix anything Prevost related!

I’ll add, the pen is designed for right handed users as leftys will quickly find out the Prevost name is upside down when it’s in use. I’m a righty, so no harm, no foul.

All jokes aside, if anything this show should be one if not two days longer. I say this as the show opened on Monday and ends today (Tuesday). Since the RV Super Show’s Industry Day is today and doesn’t open to the public until Wednesday, it would be nice to have the ability to go back and forth between the shows (the shows are in different parts of Tampa). This way, those of us who may want to compare a top tier Class A vs a Prevost conversion, this would be a good thing. And, bring your checkbook as the dealers/converters are here to sell coaches. I have a feeling they would rather have you (and not them) drive it away.

As it is now, I attended the Prevost Show yesterday and will be going to the Super Show today. I have a feeling that will be like going from swimming in the deep end to hanging out in the kiddie pool!

Again, thanks to all the kind PC Folks I met through the day. I’d mention names but the list is too long! Sadly, nobody had a ribbon in their hair, but most of us didn’t have enough hair to do this! But I did see a napkin clipped to a shirt. I could only wonder if that was to designate a PC member or as a convenience to capture the drool that forms when touring the coaches!

We caught some guy trying to take off with my shoes. Fortunately he hadn’t gotten too far when we cornered him and he gave them up.

Hey, I needed new shoes to keep up with Jeff, he’s like the Energizer Bunny.

Total coaches at the show were 53 I think. As of about noon today, I think there were 8 sold. Probably be more deals ahead after the show.

It was my first time there and I’m glad I was part of it, if you’re into Prevost, it’s the place to be.

Caution, never mess with this car dealer from east TN, that’s 295 lbs of Lifeline batteries and he never broke a sweat or a fart.
