For those that are not familiar, if you’re a Facebook fan, PC is on Facebook with 202 members.

    PC Facebook

I’m guity of not posting as often as I should, the PC site takes most of mine and Jon’s time, but for those that like Facebook, it would be great to see more action from our members.

Nice pictures on there now of Buddy’s bus after having it polished, all I can say is WOW…

What is the purpose of the PC Facebook page? Promote PC (which I don’t have a problem with).

Why the duplicity? If the potential market for PC members was in the millions or even 10’s of thousands, I would understand using FB to promote PC. But if you add up all the current Prevost M/H owners, the wannabes and willbe soons, past owners, vendors, service facilites, converters, dealers/brokers, homebuilders, etc. I think we probably struggle to get to 10,000.

Trying to understand the purpose and value of FB for PC.

I don’t use any of the popular sites most of which I cannot even name, including Facebook.

But there are a lot of people who use that site almost exclusively for the social aspects.

It’s been up for years Dick and lots of folks are Facebook fans that may never post here.

There’s no duplication, it’s a total different media than PC.

    Tom,

Is there a way to make it open to those that don’t have a facebook account (to view at least, obviously posting requires a facebook account).

    Thanks

Facebook wants you in their clutches so they can drown you in advertisements and capture all the information about your friends and other contacts they can pull from your device. Facebook is a bottomless pit. Once you go on it, it is difficult to withdraw because one post leads to another to another to another and before you realize it, you have wasted hours.

Facebook requires you to have an account. You cannot view Facebook without having an account. And beware, when you sign-up, they want you to let them devour your contacts so they can make them friends, too.

I guess, this tells you that I am not a Facebook friend. I do have an account by force of circumstances but hardly ever use it. I do not need to share my life with 5,000 of my best friends.

I hope they will add a “dislike” button really soon.

I’m on FB. Wasn’t sure why in the beginning. Have found a number of friends I’d lost track of. Has also allowed me to connect with one or two organizations I find of interest, but wasn’t aware of.

I think that FB can be a very effective media for marketing events and organizations.

If my wife could get paid a “living wage” for being on FB as well as playing Candy Crush, Words with Friends, and some game where balls drop out of the top of her phone … I think I’d be interested in trading up to a newer Prevost five or sevens newer than our 1999.

Tom … if I post something to the PC FB page … is the post to the PC FB page seen by anyone who I’ve friended on FB outside the PC group?

I’ve not had any of those issues with Facebook, but you do have to set it up right to prevent the things Ronald mentioned.

Dick – My understanding is your post is only seen by those on PC Facebook, at least that’s the way I set it up. I’m a Facebook novice, so there are likely plenty of folks here that can answer most of the questions and I would welcome the help.

The Facebook account should only be seen by those who are a member of the group Prevost Community as it is a closed group.

    Hello,

My name is Steve Fowler and I am a facebook addict. Now with that said, We use Facebook in a big way to advertise my service business and the crane company. I too like Dick have reconnected with old friends that I had lost track of 30 years ago. I think it is a blast personally and it has made me money business wise. The addiction is real and like Ronald said, I would have a hard time leaving it…

Its interesting to hear what Steve says about FB impacting his business. Inexpensive, available to almost everyone, prolific marketing and advertising tool.

But FB is a sharp knife that cuts both ways. If a business stumbles and screws something up, and the consumer decides to blast the business on FB a considerable amount of damage can be done. The #1 thing that concerns me about FB are the people who type first, hit enter second, sit for a while fourth, sit for a while fifth, and then eventually get around to thinking about what they typed and what they just put out on FB and the Internet blasting a business.

BTW … I had trouble connecting Steve Fowler on FB with Steve Fowler on the PC Forum.

Facebook is a double-edged sword, and in today’s time people will cut you to shreads on social media. So I just deal with it, and deal with it fast. I have an old well known service business, and we have 16-1700 people following us on our Facebook page. When some person starts spreading trash about us, our friends explode to our rescue. I also have control of my Facebook page. I can delete them at will, but I never do,I think my response and my other customers responses help my business.

Dick, I guess I didn’t understand what you were saying about connecting on FB. I’m a little slow!˜„

I’m probably the slow one. Private school education ended in the 8th grade.

I was responding to you on FB and didn’t realize you were the “Tinman” on PC Forum. After going back and forth between FB and PC Forum I realized that you were the same person in both places.

A number of years ago I worked in operational risk for a very, very large company. The social media unit of our marketing department rolled out its FB presence without much discussion out of marketing. I wasn’t on FB, didn’t know much about it back then, but was tasked with trying to figure out if the social media unit had enough “risk controls” in place.

I very quickly learned how sharp tongued (fingered?) some of our customers (and even non-customers) could be over perceived “slighting”, perceived indifference by face to face and call center staff, and general unhappiness with us. I also really quickly realized that constant monitoring, the infrastructure to support responses on a 24/7 basis were critical.

As I suspected, once we got a human from the company who was empowered to solved issues to talk on the phone with the the unhappy ones, in most cases we could get the individual to understand what happened, why it happened, and that we weren’t magicians and couldn’t always solve their problems. And of course (with no suprise from me) we discovered we make mistakes once in a while (which we corrected) and have some “rules” and “practices” that sometimes defied logic.

I wonder if Ramco has a Facebook page?

Someone asked earlier in the thread “Why the duplicity”? I think “duplicity” was spell corrected and the poster meant “duplication”, but yeah, why the duplicity? Why has this Facebook page been a secret for so long?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

Prevost Community FB page was never a secret… I have been on it for years… It’s just not advertised… I am a huge fan of FB and it has never threatened me or my friends in any way… I know how to set my privacy settings and only have some 200 + friends on there ….many people have over 1000.

I use FB to keep up with all my family in Australia and it’s awesome… I am watching from across the world..

my families families grow from babies into adults… graduations… engagements… weddings… vacations … etc… Would be lost without it. Things I would never see without being there… keeping up with everyone so far away is beyond words for me. I am not paranoid about security but smart enough to know my limits and get the settings just right. If I had to pay to be on there I would !!

    To each his own !!
