Thanks Bill,
Is Taylor Tours the company that Premium Coach uses for their PDI’s?

Now that the coach has been specified we can get specific. I have had mine for 5.5 years and about 70,000 miles so I have come to understand it a little and can offer some free advice.
Overall it is a very well built and thought out coach. I have been known to pick on some things, but the little things are just that and would not cause me to even consider a different coach.
There is one thing you need to understand. If the coach has an aluminum holding tank you already may have an issue, but if not you will have an issue. This has been broadly discussed on the forum.
That is not a deal breaker, but unless you end up changing it out or it is already changed out with a stainless steel tank it is going to be a problem.
Also, if the front privacy shades are black on both sides they will transmit a lot of heat into the coach when the sun is on them. That might be OK in the winter when you want some heat, but in the summer they throw off so much heat the front area becomes a sauna. Again not a deal breaker, but consider changing to shades with a light color or white towards the outside.
Everything else about that specific coach is great.

TJ,
I am not sure if Premium uses Taylor. I bought from Southwest Luxury and that is who they used. The PDI was crazy extensive. down to them testing the TV/Radios in the bunk beds… extensive report as to what was not 100% and additional guidance on what would be needed to upgrade in the longer term.
My deal with the seller was then to bring the coach to 100% and also provided 2 days of training for me on all chassis and house systems… I spent a night or two in the bus at Taylor and worked thru everything before we rolled out with it. I audio recorded it all and it was all time very well spent.
Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Happy to talk live if that helps. The guys here on PC were a huge help when we bought ours… so happy to pay that forward. In my case Jon and Tom connected me with another Marathon owner which is what I purchased. Sounds like JOn knows your coach well so he would have much more knowledge than I.
Best of Luck

Thanks everyone for all of your suggestions. You’ve been a tremendous help. Looks like we’ll try to get the PDI done at Taylor Tours. and we’ll be there for the inspection. Nothing like flying across the country and back twice in two months. And a third to pick up the coach. Whew!
Jon, the aluminum holding tank was a concern of mine and still is. I have a call in to Liberty to see if the tank was changed out at any point. If not we’ll get that done. I hear what you’re saying about the blackout cockpit shades. The coach has a custom snap on outside windshield sun cover. I hope that helps keep the heat out.
This may sound stupid, and I’ll admit I’m somewhat ignorant when it comes to coaches although I’ve done a lot of homework in the past couple of years. I understand the Winegard in motion satellite systems, but what do you use when you are stationary? Does it work in motion and stationary?
will keep you updated on the progress of the sale. Thanks again. You guy are the best!

Forget asking Liberty. Look at the tank, or have someone that knows what different sheet materials look like to determine what material the tank is. It has a stainless steel fascia so don’t be fooled. Look at the rear of the tank from the water side.
Even if the tank was changed and it was replaced with another aluminum tank you still face the issue, but depending on its age it just moves the date out a little further.
Full disclosure: My two previous Liberty coaches had stainless steel tanks. When I bought this coach I saw it was aluminum and as soon as possible I had my daughter (who bought my metal fabricating business) build me a stainless steel tank that I installed in my coach.
Knowing the potential I introduced my daughter to Jeff of ETLC and told both to consider the potential business opportunity and keep me out of it. They did and now Jeff is installing stainless steel tanks made in my daughter’s factory. I do not know what they cost (mine was free), or what arrangements the two have and I don’t want to know. I am just glad there is an option for Liberty owners.
As to satellite dish, I have a Trac Star and had one on my previous coach as well. I know they no longer sell or support the product, but I will stick with mine until it no longer works or can be repaired. I have no knowledge of what might be suitable. I am not a fan of KVH.

TJ, the Wineguard works both ways, stationary and mobile. I had one on my 94, it was intermittent in-motion. Didn’t matter, we never watched TV going down the road anyway.
-
I am a huge fan of in-motion satellite dishes because we mostly listen to the various music genres available while we drive. The Trac Star was and is incredibly reliable and except for tunnels and very heavy rain it works flawlessly.

TJ: Good luck with the deal and the inspection. We’re all expecting you to take your coach to Jeff Rowe at ETLC very shortly after you buy it, he and his crew will be expecting you. Jeff will be able to quickly determine whether your new to you coach has an aluminum or stainless tank.

I had everything striped off the roof on the current 2007 Marathon H3-45 at Marathon Coberg location.
Marathon suggestion… installed the Direct TV rotating disc which you raise when parked , folded down to travel. It’s mounted over the bedroom. Wiring suggestion, when I start the bus the rear dish is wired to spin and stow down.
My pre -trip check routine still checks if spin and stow happens. We know about electric glitches.
Over the front cap Marathon built an aluminum base mounting a Wineguard T-4 color black (also available white )over the front cap. The T-4 is my in motion or with a flip of a switch locks in place went parked.
Just a couple of ideas….

Good news, our offer has been accepted! We are almost officially Prevost owners. Bryan is flying out next week for the inspection. Wasn’t able to get Taylor Tours to do the PDI as they are booked into February. Planning on spending two nights in the coach. And head from Phoenix to FL on the 18th. So excited. Again you guys have been a tremendous help. Looking forward to getting to meet everybody on the road some day. Thanks for the info on the satellite systems. Not sure when we can get the coach up to Jeff’s. After driving across country we won’t be using it again until March most likely.
