Still working towards it but mine is 24 x 65 with a back section that opens up about 14′ wider for storage.

My pit was an extension of an existing truck service pit I already had. So it measures 27″ wide X 4′-2″ deep X 28′ length. 28 is all I can get for length because of underground rock (PA).

Thanks for the comments, to follow up on other responses regarding lighting and heat loss, in my shop i placed the LED lights at 7 feet from floor, and slightly angled them down towards the coach my reasoning is that 95% of the work carried out is either in the bays or rear axle etc, my system works great with no shadows.

Lighting placed higher up the walls or on the ceiling will be of little use and will throw shadows.

I also did not have windows installed in the walls, security was my reasoning for that and so far i do not miss them,plus they are a source of heat loss, in summer months if i am in the shop the door are open anyway, I have 2 man doors, one at each end.

Concrete floor is 7 inches thick with styro-foam sheeting laid on top of compacted 3/4 road gravel, with re-bar. no cracking to date, coach has been parked on this since August 2019.

The sides of the shop at floor level have a 6×6 styro-foam block that is set in the wall, concrete is then poured up to that to prevent heat loss/transfer through wall at that level, walls are insulated with 6 inch insulation.

To conserve floor space and avoid possible damage i mounted the boiler for the in floor heat system at 10 feet high on the wall.

I have 2 x 50 amp plug ins, one on each wall depending if i drive in or reverse coach in to shop.

230v power outlets for large air compressor on each wall.

Have added a pic of this mornings temp at 08.30, with temps like this a heated shop is a must to preserve a Prevost and makes a great place to pass the time maintaining it.

Hope this helps, maybe a different take on things from the frozen North !

I put windows in the 1000sf race shop, total of five on three sides. Regret doing it, lost wall space to put stuff.

If you do put windows in, use PVC boards (probably white) for jams and sills. Make sure the sills tilts down a few degrees. No painting. If they get wet from condensation or rain from a window left open, no rotting.

If you put windows in, put an outlet in both jams. Then a shelf. Great place for a radio, cordless tool battery chargers, smart/flip phone chargers, or AMB transponder Charger.

The thinnest steel Dura-Panel is great for walls and ceiling.

Loc, not only do I give tours but we have a full hook-up (50amp/water/sewer) on the driveway for guest. Our HOA allows three nights for guest RVs on private driveways and should we not like you, the 50 amp power breaker in the garage might develop a problem…

I am still in the process of gathering information. I am going to go with a 30’x60′ building and I have changed from drive thru unit to pull-in-back-in unit. Getting the placement correct on the lot so that I could come in and out from either side was driving concrete costs up to over $17K.

Contractor has quoted $50,000 for grade, concrete, plumb, electrical, standing up the building, etc. Would reall like to know is the is in line or excessive to what others have experienced.

Thanks, Tom, et al. The cost is now in the $62K – $65K range for a turn-key build out. I am back to the two 14×14 doors and re-position on the lot to come in and out from either direction. Waiting on an update from one contractor, and pricing from a second contractor.

Doors are 12′ x 14′ and wish they were wider… 14′ x 14′ would be ideal. Central a/c and heat to control humidity is a must….
