Check out possible gauges at Classic Instruments (www.classicinstruments.net) and Speedhut (www.speedhut.com). Speedhut is where I got replacement gauges for my “Classic” bus. Both make custom gauges that could work in your stock panel.
And by the way, you must have been hangin’ with Jdub recently. The use of Sheep Metal in relation to car restoration is new to me and I’m not really sure I want to know what it means either!
Oh, and the car is looking really good in spite of it not having a Hemi. I know you chose the engine to “keep it in the family.” Good choice there too.

I got the gauges and the clock from Dakota. Reluctant to deviate from the appearance of stock but it was expedient.

Jon, before you get finished with the interior, here is an unbelieveable sound deadening material. 1/8 inch rubber type material equal to 12 inches of poured concrete in noise attenuation. Sorry about responding late, but just saw this for some strange reason. Gonna try it when redoing the generator box.

Thaks Fred. The interior was not part of the project and that is something I will tackle when I get the car. It will be an ongoing process so at some point I will have it gutted and have an opportunity to address a lot of issues. I can say that when it was original it was both tight and quiet, something I had not expected. What noise did intrude was engine noise, but the restorer has already added a brand new hi-tech material to the firewall already. I don’t know what it is or its properties. That will not be changed because it had to go on before the new top hung pedals, steering column, and AC unit were mounted.

Fax: +1 (813) 549-2653I saw a TV show comparing this stuff against a set of 5 Diesel Railroad locomotive air horns. 140dB at 50 feet. Unbelieveable! They also had a acid rock guitarist banging out noise and lowered a box made of this over him and his amp. A dB meter was about 15 feet away and was showing 128-129 dB until they lowered the box and it dropped to 61dB. A camera and mic showed that the player was still making noise. Appologies to the acid rock lovers, but I still think it is noise ;<)
They do use this for floors and an additional underlayment that goes on top of it for carpet and another for wood, tile or stone. Only problem with it, is above 250° F it degrades, so would be unsuitable for manifolds and such.
I have not priced it, but they sell large sheets for noise abatement fencing that attaches to chain link, so should be semi-reasonable.

As you said previously that stuff would be ideal for a new surface in the generator hush box. And around all that harsh sounding metallic rock.

Di is not a Corvette enthusiast. However at the Liberty Rally at the Charlotte Memorial Day NASCAR races this year we had an opportunity to visit Rick Hendricks personal car collection which was predominantly Corvettes.
She probably won’t buy me one, but she enjoyed seeing them as much as I did. We have had one continuously since 1965.
