Newbie intro from the North

Thanks for all your input, I really do apprciate it. I havent even came close to commiting to go see this coach and chances are I won’t simply because there is no comfort level, because there is NO crediable information. I was hoping someone on PC might have specific information.
I have been buying fix up stuff my whole life and have I have been pretty successful at it. I am not about to loose my shirt on anything as complicated as a bus.
As to my budget, I would like to end up somewhere around $100-$125 k but I would also like to get one that needs some work as I mention before. There is decent looking bus in Alberta that I might go look at.

With that budget you will be able to get a really fine coach. All of our coaches are fixer-uppers because they do need continuing maintenance so you will get all the satisfaction you can stand providing your coach with TLC .
Stay away from the dogs.

You guy’s have convinced me I should pass and I can’t get any background on the unit. I called on one in Calgary that I saw a few’s back but it’s sold. I think you guy’s would have liked that one. There is another real nice coach in Quebec. It’s a Beaver conversion and in real nice condition by the looks of it. I will call on it after the long weekend. Its CANADA DAY here !!!

C’bus will probably jump in here, they know all there is to know about the few Beaver conversions made.
Have you looked at the coaches here on our site? There’s a private sale for a 96 CC for 90K in CA.
Also quite a few low to mid 100’s by our various advertisers.

Again, thank you for the input. One of the issues I will have is that my funds are in Canada. If I bought a coach in the US I am giving up 23% at todays exchange rate. So on a $100 K thats $23K. I guess that’s one reason I was looking into one on the cheap. There are not alot of used prevost in Canada but there are a few that I am looking into.
I have done an exhaustive online search for coaches and have seen most in my price range. One of the criteria is nice wood interior. We live in a log home, stone fireplace/rustic out building etc. so that is what gives us comfort. I know we wont replicate that but from what I have seen of the Beaver coahes they give that “feel”. Most of the places I will be parked will be somewhat remote or not in an RV park or conected to power. So I am hoping to find something with large tanks, good genset etc. Of coarse this can be changed out as needed. I will be mostly in Northern Canada/US, Alaska, Yukon chasing Upland Birds and fly fishing and Arizona in the Winter. Good heaters are a must.

Dale if I was looking for a coach like you want , I would be looking for Royale 1995 to 1997 they have solid front axle and series 60 motor great coaches good dry camping coach and lots of them have wood inside I had a 1997 it was great coach had lots of water and batteries for dry camping and a great gen, I also am from Canada was born in Banff my brother still lives there now

Glad to meet you. Banff has grown so much I can’t believe it, I apprciate the tip on the royal and will start to look around at them more.

I took your suggestion and looked at some Royals that are for sale and in that vintage I did not find any with Over the Road Air. Did they do that in a Royal for 1996-2000, I am looking in the era of 1998 to 2004 for a coach in my price range. Thanks Michael Beronja

I am pretty sure there is no such thing as a Royale with OTR.
With rare exception Liberty coaches will have OTR, some Marathon and Vantare will, but not a high percentage, and almost no OTR on Country Coach. It would be a hit and miss option on some other conversions.
If the lack of OTR is a deal breaker the number of coaches with it are going to be a small percentage of the marketplace.

FWIW, I had a 97 Royale and they did a good job with dash air. There are 2 evaporators for dash air, one is the dash vents and the other is in the overhead. We never had a problem with keeping cool. My Marathon has a similiar system with 2 evaporator’s. We’re traveling in 90+ temps and no cooling problems. If your going to spend time in the desert southwest in the summer, then OTR would be a big plus.

Don’t know if OTR air would be a deal breaker up there in Canada but down here in Texas I know it’s a lifesaver for sure. My 3 cruise airs wouldn’t be enough if we didn’t have it. Know what you mean about the interior in wood, never really liked the modern look of some of the newer coaches. Folks that built ours (Cole Custom Coaches in Wyoming) back in the early 90’s ran a cabinet shop and the Ash Wood in ours is beautiful. Never liked the plastic look, but to each there own. I know my Wife likes the newer look. I have the 8V92TA but want the 4 stroke motor when I upgrade if just for the help on the road you can get on those. Mine runs like a scalded dog and so far no problems.Good luck on your search. I know these Boys will help you find what you’re looking for..
