New Michelin Tires
Hello everyone.
I am going to replace my bus tires before hitting the road frequently this spring/summer. I recently tore a sidewall and had to replace the ruined tire while on the road. All that was available at the time was a non-Michelin tire. I plan to put it in an inside location (it is UGLY), and replace the other 7 tires with new Michelin XZA2’s. I am OK with the 315’s at all locations, so I am not going to muddy the water with putting 365’s up front.
Have any of you replaced bus tires in the state of Arkansas? Just curious if there are any dealers near my home who are equipped to do the job. Also, if I join FMCA, are there any known, reputable dealers close to Hot Springs/Little Rock that anyone could recommend?
My guess is that it will cost about $5K out the door to replace 7 tires. Is that a reasonably close estimate?

Through FMCA they should be around $4400 plus mounting and balance.
Joining FMCA IMO is a no brainer when it comes to discounts associated with them. Especially the tire program.

Make sure that whatever tire you intend to mount next to the new Michelin is the same size. Tires are not always the same even if they say the same size on the tire. If I were you, I would replacd them all and sell the brand-x one. I will only use Michelin FWIW.
Check into the tire program here before buying anywhere else…..

Nobody needs to join FMCA for the tire program. It is one of the programs available to PC members for free.

Just click on the Michelin Tire Program at the top of the forum, you don’t need FMCA!!
For what it’s worth, I wouldn’t mismatch the Michelins with one other brand.

I would use the internet to find a dealer who will participate in the program. If you local Michelin shop does not participate, just keep expanding your search. You have to drive to the dealer anyway so instead of 5 miles you may have to drive 50, but the savings is so significant it will be worth it.

As mentioned above, never mismatch dual tires. The difference in circumference can be considerable, placing more stress on the taller tire, possibly with increased heat from flexing carrying more weight than the twin. If you mount your “ugly” tire inboard and is taller. you run the risk of it blowing, taking out its new twin, and perhaps your airbags, air lines, or shock or body panels. Use the “waif” tire as a spare. Or advertise it on craigslist or try trading when buy all eight.

So what is the approx discount with the tire discount program? I Was under the impression the tires are around $800-$900 each (is this correct?), and I saw the post on the Tire Discount Program saying something about 46% off? Would that make the tires $450-$500 ish? or is the $800-$900 amount that I had in my mind with the discount (making them retail $1500)?

we’ve heard with discount, XZA-2’s were priced somewhere in the neighborhood of $5380 for 315’s.

I guess for what they are, that’s not much more then the 33″ mud tires I put on my off-road truck, only twice as many 😉
What ever the discount/final price is, seems joining the fuel/tire program is a no brainer.

I think I paid last summer for all 8 tires 315 about 528 or close to that

A memeber just replace his tires on his Bluebird M450 Cost was including fet was $6300 per tire
Why join FMCA for tbe tire program the Same tire program is offered here for free.

Or, if you have confidence in the quality of the brand x tire, and it’s marked same size as others, install on tag. Slight difference won’t matter.
