Jon: Does the Liberty Classic Lady have air operated pocket doors or manual pocket doors?

What Jon says about some of the bells and whistles which some might consider to be over the top and unnecessary like all the cabinets have lights that turn on when the door is opened is true. While looking at coaches to buy, regarding say the lights in the cabinets I’ve gone from “cool/nice” to “whatever” to “something more to deal with” to finally “those lights are a really nice feature”. We have a now 16 year old coach and all the lights in the cabinets work (except for a couple of burned out bulbs I should change) and I am frankly quite impressed with the quality of the Liberty build and the components they used which has resulted in this feature being trouble free.

We have an Elegant Lady (24 volt coach). The lights (and things) are controlled with by the Creston touch pads or the Sunmullon pushbutton switches. There is a Sunmullon button last allow you to turn the lights in the Sunmullon buttons on at each of the arrays of Sunmullon buttons. I really like this feature because it makes it very, very easy to see the button labels when those lights are on, especially in dim light or at night. I didn’t spend six figures to buy a motorhome that I need to carry a flashlight around in my pocket to figure out which light switch to use! The bedroom has only the Creston touch pad for controlling the lights. I wish there were two arrays of Sunmullon switches for the bedroom and bath area lights in addtion to the Creston touchpad; one of the other side of the bed (my side) and another on the corner vanity in the bedroom just as you enter the bedroom. But all in all I can’t complain too much!

A summary of the differences between a Liberty Elegant Lady (24volt coach) and a Liberty Classic Lady (12 volt coach) is something I was going to suggest be written by someone like Dave Wishnoff from Liberty who someone said monitors the posts to the PC Forum, but Jon did a nice job. Stuff like should be archived so PC members down the road looking for a coach can access it and educate themselves.

You mentioned that your Elegant is operated by the “Creston” control system. Yet I’ve read other coaches that have received some type of upgrade and are now operated by IPads.

Is this a completely different system or can your Elegant run off IPads?

I think the word Crestron as used by Dick is generic. Maybe the word touch pads would be more accurate unless it is truly a Crestron system. I know some XL Liberty coaches used touch pads that might not have been Crestron.

I know some coaches that had Crestron systems that have been reprogrammed and now use ipads, but I think the basic system of switching is Crestron.

I have no clue what other conversions use but I suspect regardless of the underlying system newer coaches are using some form of touch pad system.

Tim & Cindy: We operate off the original “touchpads” that Liberty installed during conversion in 1998/99. I have not investigated a conversion to iPads at this time. I likely won’t unless I can be somehow convinced of a significant advantage or a life changing experience.

I should also have pointed out that all the window shades are electric. The four in front around the driver and passenger seats are run by two sets of four be operated from the door way if you desire).

All the windows along the side of the coach have Hunter Douglas electric shades that work off a wireless control to raise and lower the shades. There are two controls in the coach (one for the salon/kitchen shades and one for the bedroom shades), but either control will work both the front and the back shades depending if you’re in the kitchen/salon and pointing the control forward or if your standing in the bedroom and pointing it toward the back of the coach. The HD shades in the bedroom can also be controlled by a single rocker switch inside a small flip down door above the night stand on the side of the bed opposite bedroom touchscreen and bedroom Cruise Air control module. I’m not aware (yet) of manual controls for the HD blinds in the front of the coach. Maybe we just haven’t found them yet!

The Hunter Douglas shades in our coach are not tied into the touch pads (or Crestron if that is what we have) and I don’t have a problem with that. In the beginning I was disappointed HD shade control wasn’t part of the touch pads, but after using the coach for a year I’m fine with it.

Speaking of the Hunter Douglas system, want to find the HD shade control box for the front and move the individual window wires around, but I’ll start another thread if I can’t figure it out.

We find our Liberty to be pretty well thought out and extremely well put together. About the only thing on our Liberty Elegant Lady XLV that isn’t automated electrically or by compressed air would be devices to raise/lower/install/stow those covers (I don’t know what you call them … “booties”, “sheaths”, “gloves”, “socks”, etc.) that the almost uncomfortably friendly staff at Camping World will sell you to put on the rear view mirrors, windshield wipers, and all the tires. Maybe the new Libertys have that feature, Mark and Craig could enlighten us as to whether they have something to do that on their new coach. At this point its not an issue as we haven’t gotten around to outfitting our coach with those items from Camping World.

The new Liberty’s have the ‘drone-de-Liberty’ feature. I hit the ‘drone’ button on the I-pad and the drones appear from Stuart, FL (takes a couple of hours if I’m in California)… they are fast little rascals.. Our window cover snap-on’s or anything we need are installed automatically.

When I open my sewer door, those darn rose petals fall out and I have the drones do a quick clean up. The vacumm drones are the neatest invention I tell you!

So, owning a Liberty is pure heaven.

I was waiting for the other Mark to add to your comments because he has is gazillion slide Liberty as well.

Instead of the drone option on our three Liberty coaches we opted for the never break option. Since nothing ever breaks on our Libertys we haven’t had to wait for the pesky drones. We do have the rose petal option however, but it is quite unnecessary because our s*** doesn’t stink.

You guys and gals with Liberty’s say when you open your dump door rose pedals fall out. When I push a little toggle switch the darnedest thing happens, my dump hose pops out and stops about 6 inches from the campground connection for the sewer. It’s crazy..

Excuse me Mr. Featherlite, but my sewer does does not spring out for the owner convenience, mine has to be hookep up manually with caution taken not to scratch the gold plating.
