New Bus!?
Well Here Goes.
After reading and reading Jon’s article about picking the perfect Prevost and shaking my head in agreeance to every word, I “think” we have to decided to get a coach with slides.
We love, love, love our Featherlite non-slide. For the reasons Jon wrote about AND, she “POPPED OUR PREVOST CHERRY!” LOL.
We are just getting super familiar with it and know all if the sounds everything makes (water pump, diesel heat, aux gen, etc.) I’m nervous about learning a new coach much less, one that could possibly be a new conversion, slides and newer.
So we are flying to Florida tomorrow and back (in one day) to The Motorcoach Store. So if anyone has ever bought anything from there I would love to hear about your experience. If you want to send it to me in an email I believe its on here. If you all want to jump on the website and look at the coach we are considering it is the 2004 Marathon.
So, we would be jumping froom a 2000 non-slide Featherlite to a 2004 Double Slide Marathon. The Motorcoach Exchange has a Featherlite I really like that is an 2004 with a bath and a half but doesn’t have the double awnings on both side ( the look Butch wants) on both sides. Marathon has 169k miles Featherlite has 100K miles. The marathon miles makes me a lil nervous.
I need to do some updating on the inside of the Marathon. But there is more room in $$ for me to do that on Marathon. Don’t know Jack Crap about a Wabasto so there is that! Don’t know a darn thing about Marathon as a Conversion either.
So I’m expecting this thing to ding away. As I said, we leave tomorow for a last minute quick trip, so any advice is eagerly received!

Dawn, don’t let the mileage bother you. Depending on how the lower mileage bus was used, I might very well take the higher one. As for Brad and MC Store (in our backyard) they are not capable of doing anything to a sale unit other than cleaning it. You will have to have someone else PDI it. Geo.

Dawn, you have a webasto on your current bus it’s part of the AquaHot. On the Marathon it’ll be seperate w/1 or 2 water heaters. Geo.

As Geo pointed out you will be buying a coach pretty much “as-is”. That is not a bad thing because I bought two coaches more or less that way, but the burden is on you to know what you are getting into.
We have discussed on this forum many times that a pre-purchase inspection is very important because it not only reveals to you if the coach and all its devices and systems work, it becomes your learning experience. I would strongly suggest you plan on spending several days going over the coach before money changes hands. If you can hook up with someone familiar with the conversion it would not be a bad idea to get that assistance. Every conversion has its way of doing things and as silly as it sounds in some cases you need a road map just to do something that seems basic like accessing a device or operating a system. An inspection involves a lot more than just walking through an lighting a few lights. It may also involve opening panels if needed to find some not so obvious components.
If you are reluctant to try to do your own inspection you are well positioned to make a short drive to several Prevost experts in that area who can not only help do the inspection, but who can teach you the coach at the same time.

Dawn, would strongly suggest taking the Marathon to Parliament(35mi) as Rick May is a Marathon expert. If you’re serious about the Vantare…Donnie Meyer (60mi)

It was a long, long day of travel and we came home empty handed. It was not the coach for us. So we are on to the next one. Anyone see anything out there we might not have seen on Prevost-Stuff, PC, RVT, RVOnline, RVRegistry, RVT, Motorhomeexchange, Motorhomefinders, Motorhomestore, Ebay, Craigslist, RVTrader, PrevostTrader, All of the dealers web pages, Luxury Motorcoach Sales, etc.

When you set foot in the right bus you will feel it immediately…. when I went in Jon’s coach the first time I knew that’s what I wanted… it felt right… comfortable, beautiful, first class quality… I knew that’s what I had to have and low and behold one came available the next Spring… the only difference was that we wanted an H3-45.
I still love our bus and have no intention of trading anytime soon. You will know … trust me… there’s something about the feeling you get when you walk inside !! It just feels right.
I did a few decorating upgrades… bedspread pictures etc and that was it… everything else was more than perfect for our taste.
Hang in there you will find one !!

I don’t know, we have been to Rayford several times in Feb – March. We also get to Prevost Nashville pretty regular for service.
Nashville is is always a good time.
Florida off and on in the summer to see Donnie Myers.
We could have seen each other somewhere else on the road as well. We try to go when we can.

I agree with Tom. Check out Hish’s Liberty. I’ve been in it and know Hish. It’s a nice bus.
