Low Vehicle Battery Voltage
Posted by Archived on August 9, 2016 at 8:05 pmI think this is mainly for Michael who has the same year as my Country Coach or any other CC owner who may have had the same problem I am haveing.
I am getting the Low Vehicle Battery Voltage promt from my dear girl friend that tells me when things are not right.
All my voltages check out to be good at all locations, each battery, 12 and 24 volt terminals on the Vanner Equalizer and the terminals on the Vanner Monitor and on the dash gauges.
Talked to Jeff this pm and he said he thinks Michael had something like this happen to him the other day.
Maybe something to do with the CC card in the steer compartment.
If anyone has had this problem pleas email me or post a reply please.
Will be out tomorrow but will check in Thursday.
Thanks

Buddy;
I am having the same problem currently. The computer voice keeps telling me I have “Low Vehicle Battery Votage”. I called Country Coach about the problem. They told me to inspect a computer card in the Driver’s Bay and look for signs of overheating. It is an 8″ x 8″ card. I looked at mine today, it looks like it was made yesterday – perfect condition.
Country Coach told me if I could not drive 2,800 miles one way to see them, I coud check with NIRV in Lewisville or Luxury Coach Service in Rockwall, Texas. They both have former Buddy Gregg employees that shoud be familiar with our electronics. I’ve used both. I always had a problem reaching anyone or receiving a call back from NIRV, however, Luxury Coach Service always answered their phone and gave me prompt professional service.
I do not have an answer for you, however, I have installed a trickle charger on my engine batteries. The trickle charger indicates that the batteries are fully charged.
Sorry I am of no real help, if you find out anything, please let me know and I’ll do the same for you.
Michael

Thanks Michael, I looked at mine yesterday and could not see anything alarming.
One other source is Miles Circo in Florida, he has done some board repair for me just recently.
If I come up with anything I will let you know.
Thanks

Buddy & Michael,
Going back in the ole memory bank, I think I had that problem with the 2000 CC XL and it was caused by an inline fuse back in the engine compartment, curb side. The ole memory is fading, but I think the fix was to replace the fuse holder due to corrosion or a bad crimp. It was a CC installed fuse.
Hope I don’t have you chasing your tail…

What is the actual battery vboltage when the low battery is announced?
-
Buddy, just hit speech mute, works every time!(-: Mine will announce when I kill the cutoffs in the engine bay, as she should. Otherwise she works as designed.
-
Tom,
I think the CC voice warning system has that driver loss of memory warning programed as well but it’s the emergency man voice not the nice female.
-
It started around 12.2 to 12.5 volts which is about 40 or 50 % charge.
-
It sounds like “she” is correct. Do you have a charger on the chassis battreries? For a test, put a charger on the chassis batteries and see if she still gets upset. If not try to figure out why the chassis batteries are low. How old are they?
-
Btteries are brand new and at a higher voltage than the set point for the voice system.
-
I don’t know George. That’s where it started. The bats were 2 months old and I would start the coach once a week and one week they were dead. Started checking them and found that one of the neg terminals had worked lose an was arching enough to heat up the terminal and melted some of the led base. So I figured that could not have helped that battery. Took all 4 back to NAPA who said they were good. (Would not charge past 12.4 volts and alternator woul not come up past 12.7 at the battery so put Delco 1150s in and all is good. 13.6 and 27.2 charge rate but still get the low signal so I will check the card that reads that voltage.

Thanks for the update Buddy. Keep us posted if anymore information developes. -
Michael,
Can you give some insight into the Country Coach “card” system?
Is this something unique to Country Coach like the glass dash?
Is there an expected useful life to the cards?
How many does a coach have and what do they control?
Are they still availableand how expensive are they?
Is there a replacement system, like silverleaf for the dash?
How should a coach shopper factor them in?
Sorry for all the questions, but there is a Country Coach we are considering?
Thanks,
-
John,
There is a Silverleaf replacement for the glass dash Country Coach used, and the last I heard, the price was down to around $5,000, which is not too bad, considering the replacement Prevost instrument cluster we put in was almost as much, and the glass dash is a lot more visible compared to the Prevost dash. -
Per,
The Country Coach glass dash question has been on our radar.
I am trying to determine what kind of a factor and concern the “card system” should be when looking
at a Country Coach. Are the cards just components of a computer? Are they available and what is
their usefull life? Just trying to account for everything that should be considered when considering a
Country Coach. Do all converters have something similar?
