The tag axle does not increase turning radius of a coach. If anything, if you let it drag on the ground instead of raising it, it will increase turning radius. A 45-foot coach will have a significantly longer wheelbase than your coach, and this will adversely affect your turn radius. That being said, the turn radius for a 2000 45-foot XLII is 41.75 feet, which is very impressive–you just have to watch the rear of the coach on a tight turn. -
Every non owner that is concerned with turning radius can put those fears and concerns aside.
We have had a 40 foot solid axle coach and two 45s, one with solid axle, and one with IFS. Over the last 25 years I have probably taken my coaches into all the situations that can be encountered. There was not a single time when my first thought was that I wish my turning radius was better than it was.

I believe the following is correct at least for the 2002 XLII CC’s.

My coach has the standard 208 gal fuel tank and there was an option for 40′ and 45′ coaches in 2000 (the Prevost shell year of my coach) which provided 250 gal. If Buddy and Michael jump in this thread they are both original owners of 40′ CC XL coaches and will know if their capacities are different.
I love the idea of your wife being a featured speaker. We all need support to spend more money. It has probably been said already but on PC we all have fun helping you spend your $$. I had a great time in the hunt for my coach and hope your search is just as much fun. -

I think it is great the economy is kept alive by folks redoing the interiors or remodeling, What I cannot understand is why some will not live in the coach for a while to find out what changes are really really important first.
BTW, we redid the interiors on 2 coaches and were very glad we did it but it took a while before we figured out all we wanted to accomplish.

The 2000 Prevost XL had a standard fuel tank of 250 gallons for the 40-foot, and 208 gallons for the 45-foot. The 45-footers had an option for a 90 gallon auxiliary tank.

Thank you for the tank capacities. Would you mind telling me your battery bank configuration? I’ve learned Libertys will have three or four 4Ds depending on model, and Marathons have six 4Ds standard.

Good point about waiting a bit to figure out what you want to do. I don’t get much time with Shanna though, the last two she said I took way too long on. We have a nine year old son (usaully with a friend) yet at home, large dogs, and camp in the woods, desert, or on the beach, so hard surface flooring is a given or I go crazy trying to keep it clean.

Would like to know what you think about the following salon confirguration? – Jacknife sofa behind driver (most have it), L booth and then have Villa or someone local make an extension of that booth type seating (don’t extend the table) go up toward the passenger seat. You could then have them make a removable armrest/drink holder to sit between the booth area and entended bench to define two separte spaces. We would want it so the back of the booth and extended bench seats could be removed (maybe stacked on the front seats/dash) for the evening and there would be a wide enough area for a kid or somewhat nimble adult to sleep on. Looking for two separate places for people to sleep in the front. We currently have opposing jackknifes and love it but feel that would be too crowded without a slide (have seen it and there is no room to walk between them when extended).

Our 45ft. has a private toilet. That was the selling point for my wife. Not sure how many 40 footers have that option. We also have 2 vanities, which is really nice. A friend of mine bought an entertainer coach after we bought ours – That’s a LONG wheelbase, with a larger turning radius.

CC built five 40′ coaches in 2002 all with a private toilet. I have seen three of the five and I believe all had the same floor plan. No private toilet was a deal killer for us.
