Am I the only one getting the message here?
Jon complains about not getting his share of dues money, having to grow his own food, wear donated clothes, etc, etc.
Yet he is buying the expensive top of the line batteries, before he even needs batteries….
Maybe Tom is the one getting slighted? After all, Tom had to sell his Prevost and buy a big truck..
What is the real story, we may never know….

Tom, I would not go by what the literature says. I had found a white paper that was published by Relion that is probably still floating around the internet and it had recommendations that were just wrong. It appears that something must have gone wrong after it was published so they changed them. One change was to go down to 14vdc from 14.2 for parallel applications. At 14vdc you still get 95%+ capacity. It could be that they have changed recommendations again from 2 years ago. 13.3-13.8 sounds really low and will reduce the available capacity of the battery significantly, if I remember correctly. That seems to be more in line with the charging voltage from the alternator as opposed to the house charger. That would be fine. It is so nice to pull in somewhere to dry camp and not have to charge batteries. Before going to bed.
When you are in constant current mode, voltage is not a consideration. In constant current mode you are giving the batteries all of the current they can take regardless of voltage, up to the limits you have set on your charger. I believe I had mine set to 100A each and I believe that 120A was the limit. If you have batteries in parallel they will share the charge current so, in my case with (5) batteries, they can take a lot.
I would highly recommend that anyone considering buying them contact Relion directly to get their latest recommendations and set the charging profile as close as you can get it followed by a review by Relion again to make sure they agree.
I sold my coach last week so I no longer have access to the settings. Magnum is supposed to be coming out with another inverter/charger that may be a better fit than what is currently available.
