Both north and southbound I-75 are two large welcome areas that we have used in both directions numerous times.

Both are just south of exit 178. On the NB side we use the car parking that is behind the building, southbound we use the second large vehicle parking are.

If there are any decent RV parks along I-75 in KY or OH we haven’t found them. Our experience in OH is limited to crossing the river into Cinncy where we head north on I-71.

Slim pickings Jerry, we go that way every year and have never found an RV Park that could accommodate a Prevost.. Been to the horse park a number of times and won’t be going back. We dry camp wherever we can find a good spot like Jon said.

If you call them and ask about parking a 45′ coach with a toad and they tell you park at the truck stop across the road, DON’T! The amount of parking at the truck stop is modest, was FULL the night we stopped on the way to Jeff’s, there were NO pull through parking spots … all back-in. One our second call they said to park in the Casino parking lot, in any open area (probably towards the truck stop), and to call when we wanted the shuttle bus to pick us up (it was raining very hard). Lot is set up for cars, not coaches or semi’s so watch the concrete curb islands. Shuttle bus comes promptly and takes you in both directions. Casino is nice, food was decent, we think a very safe place to park.

Next morning head up the Indianapolis, either take the Interstate to Indy and then I-69 to Lansing and Flint … or head directly north of Shelbyville cross country and take in some local color until you get to I-69.

The Flying J at exit 171 near Walton, KY has RV parking but it is small and at a bad angle.

The rest area Jon recommended has wide open parking area.

There is a Lowe’s just west of I-75 at exit 32 in Middletown and a large Walmart west of I-75 at exit 38 in Franklin. Both are very handy to the interstate but I do not know if either encourage or discourage RV parking because that is too close to home for me to ever park there.

My barn is 10 miles east of exit 32 but it can be muddy and difficult to turn around. I have not been there since january so I could not say. Plus my neighbors are very likely to greet you with a shot gun politely pointed at the ground. I have good neighbors.

I hope to eventually have everything fixed so that folks can drop in and spend the night going through, with a call ahead to the good neighbors of course.

Davy, once the time comes for others to be able to park you just need to teach your neighbors to look for a PC plate….if they have one they are good!

In the 25 years we’ve been motorhoming, we’ve for the most part relied on the Trailer Life directory, and we also use the KOA directory. We have no problem camping with other campers, and a lot of campgrounds have plenty of room for a 45-footer towing a car–lots of “plastic” 45-footers on the road. If you have a very long stacker trailer, that’s a different story. Many of what used to be upscale RV parks have turned into trailer parks these days, with many families living in an RV full-time, not necessarily by choice. We have already been in campgrounds where a Prevost is a rare sight, which does not bother us, nor do the good folks in the campground.

That being said, looking in the directory, I see two campgrounds in Kentucky I would consider if I was traveling on I-75; one in Crittenden called the Cincinnati South Rose Garden with 65-foot pull-throughs, the other in Georgetown called the Whispering Hills RV Park with 60-foot pull-throughs.

Peter, it’s 900 miles from where we are starting, Back in the ’70’s as a trucker, I could do that with no problem, other than log books! Now, 500 miles is enough per day.

From my perspective it’s not the fact of mixing it up with all the various RV’s, I like that, it’s usually the campgrounds lack of maintenance in trimming tree’s and being able to get to your site without scrubbing tires, scraping tree branches and sites designed for 35 – 40 footers. Lots of times they boast about having pull through sites 70′ long, but by the time you get there, your pride and joy ends up with scratches or worse. I’ve had my share of having to unhook just to get in the site.

Not to mention 50 amp plugs in poor condition with voltages approaching brown out. I’ve had too many instances of having bad power only to have the campground dude come stick a meter one each leg claiming all is well with 120 each. Try explaining to them that as soon as you load it with amps, your 120 is now 108. They give you you the same look Jon does when you hand him an IPhone.

Hopefully we can continue to populate the PC map so folks have peace of mind knowing another PC member has been there.

Jon & Tom…I don’t mean to hijack this thread but I’ll be driving from Vonore to Buffalo next week. Do you usually drive straight through to Jamestown and Brockport or do you stop at the Welcome areas as you mentioned above?
