H2 HummerTowing
I am thinking about purchasing a low mileage H2, i am not stuck on any year . any advise from anyone! i would like to use it for a dingy (toad)

We’ve towed for 10 years and likely have added over 100,000 miles now. Roadmaster base plate and all terrain tow bar.
Just keep an eye on the front hubs. Easy to replace, but prone to wear and tear.

Does the Odometer increase when towing?

I am using a Brakemaster supplemental braking unit because I switch among several vehicles and it is easy to do with that unit. At 6700 pounds for a H2 you do want to have some form of braking.

Do you have to do anything special before you tow like pull breakers , switch to acc.

Our Hummer only requires me to put the transfer case in neutral. I do that by holding two buttons simultaneously until the red light comes on. I turn the key off and put it in park.
That is it apart from hooking the tow bar, safety cable, wire cable, air line, and hooking up the Brakemaster.
The Hummer is road ready by reversing the above steps. I found by releasing the parking brake just prior to towing is a good idea and it saves wear and tear on the tires.

Thanks for the info. i purchased my H2 today thanks for th ino . i will try and do my best to remember to take the parking brake off… LOL

It was a test of the parking brake, which I can say with confidence works well on a Hummer.
In addition I can also say our coaches will go up through the gears with a Hummer attached, even with the brake on, as though there is nothing back there. If you tow anything smaller than a tank just be aware you will not know the brakes are on.
The above of course is hypothetically speaking, and if you elect me I will have a ckicken in every pot and a Prevost in every garage.
