Folding Chair Storage
I need to improve my storage areas because I have got too much stuff piled on top of each other.
In particular, I would like to have better storage and easier access to folding chairs.
I have seen this now on a couple of coaches where chair storage bins are attached to the inside of the storage bay doors.
They seem to be preformed made out of plastic and hold 2 chairs.
Anybody having any ideas where I could get those?
I seem to remember that these type of bins were on Liberty coaches.
Any suggestions will be very welcome!

Ron, we had them on our CC XL. They’d be pretty simple to replicate. Go look at that CC that Ken has on the lot. 1st bay on each side. Geo.

Marathon uses back side bay door chair storage. Give Mike (parts manager) a call at Marathon parts dept.

I had them on a number of coaches and didn’t like them. Hard to get in and out while one hand is holding the door that is trying to open or close and the other hand lifting the chair out. You will also have to upsize your bay door struts to heavier ones.

We have the pockets in two of our doors and Tom is right on about needing heavier door openers/struts. I bought all new ones direct from Prevost last year, not knowing that they would not be strong enough with the chairs in the pockets. They seem just ok when it’s really warm out, but the doors do not stay up with both pockets in use. How do I know what strength struts to order when I really don’t know what the factory replacements are rated at?

Hopefully someone with chairs in their doors can get you a part number off one of their struts.

I need to order struts for the front two compartments and never thought about heavy duty ones. Will check in the morning. While I like using that wasted space for chair storage, it does make those door awfully heavy, especially in the winter and other times when its cold out.
In response to someone who suggestioned that Liberty might have used “plastic” to construction the bay door chair holders, he must have Liberty confused with SOB converter. Liberty don’t use no stickin’ plastic to build its motorcoaches. They leave that stuff to the other SOB guys!

I have at least one of the inner chair holding pockets available to anyone. Maybe two.
I do not believe all coaches require different struts because on my coach the struts can be installed in one of two available positions which has the effect of changing the mechanical advantage.

On one of my XL’s I had to replace the door struts that had the chairs and those struts took a different number than the others and had a higher pressure. I think they came from Prevost.

Jon is correct…just move the strut to the other hole on the hinge. I installed tv (heavier than the chairs and pocket) on bay door 3, moved strut mnt to lower hole….all good. Geo

MY only challenge with the chairs stored in the door is that when we have the chairs out, I have to dangle with both hands and use all my weight to pull the doors closed. And I work out! Granted I’m only 5’4″ but still. 🙂

Umm. That would be me, Cathy. John’s 5’11” & strong. 🙂 I’m small. I like to think I’m strong but there’s this problem with my lack of weight to take advantage of gravity. I run really fast though.

I have three door mounted chair storage “bins”. All are covered with a gray carpet and you can have as many as you want. Whatever you don’t want will be available to anyone else.
All we have to do is compare dates and locations so you can pick them up.
