Driver’s Seat
Anyone have suggestions on new driver’s seat? Looking to upgrade and replace the one I have now.
The family “chauffeur” needs a new throne.

This is the seat that we have.

I have a Knoedler in my 2011 and don’t like it at all. The ISRI in my 2008 was far superior as far as I am concerned. The Knoedler bottom cushion is too hard and has a hard spot in it. There is not enough contour in the bottom and it lets you slide around too much compared to the ISRI. I plan on asking Bill at Liberty if there is something that can be done with this one, or if I should just get something else. If so, ISRI is on my list.
BTW, the massage fearure on the Knoedler is nothing to brag about either…not very effective.

Generally a good upholsterer can create the seat characteristics you like. I have watched custom seats for plane interiors being built and the real key to their comfort was what was under the leather.
I saw the same thing when the sofas were reupholstered in our previous coach. We sat on the mockup as various foams with different characteristics were applied and found it is not as simple as just picking a single foam hardness. Numerous foams with different qualities were used in different areas. I suspect the seats that need improvement just are going to require an upholsterer to stip it down, test various foams in different areas of the seat until the right combination is determined, and then reapply the leather cover.
I think just ordering a seat and hoping it is more comfortable is a risk. What works for one person may not be acceptable to others.

I’ve been looking at Legacy seats. I figure no one has more seat time than a truck driver. My seat that I currently have is beautiful. Big and wide, and not comfortable at all to me! I first saw a Legacy seat in a truck supply story I was in. Only sat in it for a few minutes, but it felt great. Prices around $800. Worth looking at. I know I will never have a $3000 seat in my bus.

Mark I have a brand new Knoedler in my bus put 20,000 miles on it four lumbar switches later they still don’t work they put seams on the bottom and in the back rest they are in the wrong spot hurt my back and ass seat is not comfortable at all I will be getting the new Isri . Sad to spend that much money and it be like that ,the seat I have is one year old ,but maybe for some one else it might work , I guess if I would not drive 850 miles a day it might work

Peter…I have the same issues, not only the bottom cushion, but the seams are located in a stupid place too. They probably look nice, but they hurt my back as well, though not as bad as the crappy bottom cushion. My switches seem to be working, but my old seat was far superior to this expensive Knoedler.
How did you go about ordering a new ISRI? Could you match seat colors, or did you have to take standard ones they have in stock?
I don’t think it is the 850 miles a day that is the problem as my longest days have been a couple of 725 miles and that sucked as well…

You would think a guy that has a butt toughened up by horseback riding wouldn’t care about the seams or the thickness of the cushion.
But(t) I could be wrong.
I am not even going to begin trying to figure out how Mark’s hind quarters became so sensitive.

Mark I went to the Isri factory in battle creek mi, they have lots of colors but I just got black leather, I will get u number it’s in the bus I just got home for ranch clinic
To Jon my rear end is not nearly as hard as yours , mine can not crack glass, LoL
