About $588. plus fet and state sales tax, plus installation, if you belong to PC or FMCA. Otherwise about $1000. if you walk in of the street without any discount.

My (4) 315’s in June using our Michelin program were 2753.89 or 688.47 each including FET and tax. They took a price hike the first of May. This did not include mounting, that was a seperate charge.

Was thru St Lucie Tire and Battery two days ago talked about tires was told they had 54 315s in stock new retail price was 790,00 and the FMCA Advantage price was 6340 hope that helps someone. O and they are in Ft Pierce FL right off 95 its where Liberty does all there tire business.

Be sure and check the dates on the tires !!
Our Liberty Coach had 7 year old tires that were purchased 5 years before hand … they didn’t know or care to check and got screwed out of 2 years… we never wear our tires out normally they get old first !!

I’ve got a chance to buy a set of 6 Michileans that are 5 years old which still have the tit’s on them for $300 each installed. The size is 12R x 22.5 instead of 315 80R that is on the coach now. They are supposed to be the exact same height and about 1/2 narrorwer according to the manager but they could be a little narrower. Is there any problem with using these ?

I would not use tires that are 5 years old no matter what they looked like , I would spend the money and put new date codes on 14’s or 13’s because if u have tire blow out it will cost u more than what u saved on the cost of tires and it may save your life also just my thoughts , I put new ones on every three years I run them three seasons then take them off no matter what they look like , but maybe I could sell them if people are willing to put them on there coach , I usually throw them out after I am done with them!!!!

Sounds like false economy me to me. Effectively more than half their life gone but only around 12 price. Check the weight rating as well. That 1/2″ May make all the difference.

If you are chunking your tires at three years, a truck tire shop will buy them. Pete’s tire shop in Coachella, CA, gave me $50 each for our 6.5 yr. old Michelins (57,000 miles). You might could get more. Your old tires still have good life left for a semi trailer, dump truck, etc.

I failed to mention no tax if I pay cash. If the price of $588 for a deal on new tires is correct, plus mounting and balancing and $50 each plus tax at approx $50 each that is right at $700 a tire. I’m pretty sure the manager will do thenm for $275 each once I make an offer. The tires were stored inside instead of installed on a coach and under pressure and in the sun. But the real reason I need to get affirmation from the group on the tires is not due to the deal but it is because I have very little money to spend at present and it is either a choice between these new ones or buying some used ones. I simply can not buy new tires at present but the ones I have are unsafe. I must get something for a trip this weekend. If somebody else was interested in these I would be thrillled to get their take off’s instead and just pay for installation in order to buy myself some time to come up financially.
So the issue is getting the green light on the narrower tire and whether it presents an issue. I guess I’ll ring Bill Jensen and get his two cents worth.

The only way I could begin to justify the tires is if I was going to put 100,000 on them right after they are installed.
That presumes they have no sidewall cracking.
At 5 or 6 years of service tire manufacturers recommend replacement. If not replacement they want the tires inspected from that point on. Here’s my real objection to used tires and that includes the ones I currently drive on.I don’t know their history. I have no clue if any of them were driven at a lower than required pressure. The date codes might be OK but I don’t have the xray vision required to see if any were run at 20% less than required pressure, creating the probability of a catastrophic failure.
At $300 per tire or about half price my aversion to risk suggests to me if one fails the resulting damage is likely to far exceed the savings.

Hi Jon and thanks for the reply. I failed to make my descriptoin clear. These are not take offs or used. They are brand new tires that are 5 years old. They were stored inside. There is not a single morsal of wear, cracking or even dust on them. They are perfect and have the tits on the tread. They were never installed.
I called Prevost and they said these size (12R) have a different weight rating. I can’t afford all 6 of them anyway. I can’t afford new tires, it’s just not an option at present so it’s eitehr spend $150 each on used tires or $300 each on these new ones. My tags are in bad / unsafe condition. I belive I should put 2 of these 12R’s on the tags and then get the 315 80R’s for the other’s as I can afford them. I don’t see a problem with the slightly narrower tire with lower weight rating on the tags and the Prevost tech I spoke to didn’t seem to think I would go flying of the road into the ditch as a result but I always value running it up the old forum flag pole before hand. If anyone had used tires or was about to replace their tires I would be thrilled to get them because even the $600 for the two 12R’s is a stretch for me right now. I’m in Tampa.

my biggest concern would be the weight raitings, especially for a vehicle like our coaches. I run 10 ply tires on my dodge 1500 truck. Overkill, but when I was pulling 12000 + pounds, I wanted the extra stability in the tires.
When I went looking for new tires for my coach, I was told they were backordered. This was in March. In July, supply was still really hard to come by in qty. I went with TOYO’s and have been happy. Got them mounted for something around $575 each. THat was the tires, mounting and paying the government for all their hardwork.
This was the price without any discount program and they had them in stock. The having them in stock was the deciding factor for me, as I needed them before leaving on a 4000 mile trip.
I know it’s still expensive, but the TOYO’s are a great tire and much cheaper then the Michelins. That and you can get them without hunting around the country.
Oh and the shop ended up giving me $400 back for the tires they took off for what they would be able to resell the used tires for.

Two years ago, I blew out a 4 year old tag tire at 75 mph…$13,000 damage to the coach.
Wednesday, I replaced a 5 year old tag tire showing a sidewall bulge.
Tires age just sitting. I hate to be brutal, but if you can’t afford tires right now, you should sell the coach or park it till you can. It’s too dangerous to you, your passengers, your coach, and other driver’s on the road to operate it in an unsafe condition. There are other less expensive means of transportation.

I’ll buy used tires and run them on my trailers. I’ve had some on trailers 10 years old but would not do that on my bus. If anyone wants to sell some and are close to Houston let me know. I’m sure I can pay more than tire dealers.
