Thanks everyone for the tips and where to stay…
We contacted the Angel Fire RV resort and inquired about sites. They are very available with only about 26 coaches in the park during the 18th to 26th. Basically they are deserted which tells me something.
In light of the predicted lows of 4 to 9 degrees … I believe I won’t put the coach through that stress… along with the potential for ice conditions and other hazards. We are thinking about Calloway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. It is truly beautiful and the little city is one of the most unique places we have ever been.

And Pres, I can bet we won’t have a snow problem here in Central Georgia, we are about 60 miles from Pine Mountain.

Pres you are welcome to join us at ETLC. We’ll be ther for two or three days
the day after Christmas. I have a bag full of air leaks I’ll be glad
to share. Last time we were there, the lows were only in the teens and had a
couple of heavy snows. I understand the dump sites are also heated which makes for a down
home toasty task. You can even roast your chestnuts over Jon’s shrine.

You southerners do not know what constitutes a snowfall. Here in east TN a single snow flake becomes the lead story on the 6 o’clock news with reporters out in the field dressed like Eskimos trying to overstate the fact snow is falling.
Those who have seen our driveway know if it is snow covered we aren’t going to go up or down it. In 17 years of living in E TN last year we had a couple of days where it had snow on it and we had to stay home.

If anyone wants to see real winter, we have about 10″ of nice fresh snow and it is currently -9 degrees actual temp right now. Wind chill is at -30.
Or you could wait until mid January where we see -30 to -40 quite often.

I was just checking the outside temp this morning and here in Houston we are about to bounce off an overnigt low of about 69 degrees… However, we are getting ready for the two coldest weeks of the year which are usually the first two weeks of January. If we don’t get some freezes here to kill the insects, the mosquitoes get so big they start looking to mate with turkeys… honest.
The basic problem we have during the winter is when we skim the leaves off of the pool at least twice a week….. sometimes the handle on the skimmer gets cold… very irritating.
